Video: M3 w/DCT runs 4.5 laps on Thunderbolt track at NJ Motorsports Park - Aug 08

EDIT ON 8/27: MORE VIDEO FROM THUNDERBOLT IN POST #22 BELOW.

EDIT ON 8/28: I POSTED THE LINKS TO MY ENTIRE WEEKENDS WORTH OF VIDEO IN POST #29 BELOW. NOT ALL SESSIONS WERE RECORDED BUT ALL THE RECORDINGS ARE NOW POSTED.

Video from Sunday. The white car at the beginning of the video is a new GT3. The blue car later in the video is a E36 M3 with a aftermarket suspension, brakes and R-compound tires. I was getting to 135+ mph on the front stretch and 115+ on the back stretch.

Be sure to watch at 7:54 because the blue E36 gets a little sideways, but saves it nicely.

It's a very nice facility and is going to get even nicer as they finish all the extras around the track. This track has only been open for 3 weeks.

Click here to go over to youtube and watch the video in higher quality:

Or, just enjoy the video here.

I posted the entire 20+ minute session here: http://www.megavideo.com/?v=NZ0BYCLG

That was a great video, thanks for posting.

The DCT seems to work fine at the track, at least it seemed so in the video.

The M3 looks right at home on the track, with just minor tweaks it could really set some great times.

I only had a DCT issue at one place on the track and that was at the end of the front straight (after the bridge). Under braking it would ignore my downshift commands as I tried to downshift from 5 to 4 to 3. I had to wait until I was turned into the corner to downshift.

It was frustrating, however it had very little effect on my overall speed and smoothness.

Great footage. I am planning on taking my car to the Miller Motosport Track here in Utah. I have only got 300 more miles of break-in and then I will get the car out. Looks like a blast!

I was at the track (as a spectator) with Skierman on Saturday, 8/23, and I had one of the instructors take me out on the track. It was an unbelievebale ride, nothing like I've ever experienced before. The driving by the instructor was much more aggressive than Skierman's driving in his video. I guess the instructors are allowed to have a little more fun, and they drive very, very close to one another. Good thing for the racing harness seat belts, or else I would have been thrown all around the car.

That was a great video Skierman! It felt like I was actually in the car with you.

Attached are some pictures I took at the track. The Lotus was made 100% from carbon fiber. The Ferrari F430 Scuderia was the attention grabber of all the drivers. Truly an unbelievable car!

I was out visiting some friends in Salt Lake last winter and we were going to head out to Miller Motorsport Track just to check it out one afternoon but it started to snow hard and we ended up not going. I've heard it's a nice facility. Be sure to post video and pics when you go we can all share in the enjoyment of your track experience.

I was pushing pretty hard most of the time. The tires are the limiting factor on the track. Time for some r-compound tires. Yeah that white GT3 was fast and that guy knew what he was doing.

There are no more BMWCCA events planned this year. However NASA PDA is going there next month I believe. I'm not sure if they still have openings. Check out the NJ motorsports website for more info and links to the NASA school website.

Here's some more video from the green (advanced) run group on Saturday where I hit one of the track out cones.
