does any one have any idea who I should be talking to? I already talked to a "manger" in customer service. Anyone have any ideas?

This can definately be done. I've seen it. Well not exactly what you want but they made it such that the left paddel does both. This is for a person who only has one hand. And it was for free too. May I ask what is your disability? Because I think this should be considered discrimination. I will surely talk to my dealer and ask them to shed some light on the issue.

I'm spinal cord injured and in a wheelchair. I use a hand control for the brake. So when I brakemy left hand is on the hand control. So in order to downshift, I have to have the - side on the right.

This is insane! I'd give the dealer hell! They put hand controls for u but can't switch the paddles? All you need is speak to someone of higher rank.

I just talked to my dealer today. He said it was a 5 mins job!

Well to cut a story short, the answer was "no". We cannot do any alteration. When asked why, they just said "the Tech people said so". I'm extremely frustrated and was wondering when you guys though of it.
I just sent the BMWNA Customer Rep a PM detailing the situation. He usually chimes in when someone is having a legitimate problem with their car, service or anything of the sort. I'm surprised he hasn't dropped you a line yet, but I'm sure he'll be chiming in within the next day or so. All should be well very shortly!

+1. Anyone that tells me "because they said so", let me believe that he or she didn't take the effort out of their "daily-wasted" gossiping time, and called the factory, and pursued it. I am positive that BMWNA works with disabled clients to enhance their driving experience. I would try to communicate with someone else; someone that has more authorities.

This looks like the switch of controls would be plausible. i looked at the wiring diagram of the controls, and the only thing i worry about is the bus structure for said controls. let me check into this a little more and find out the correct information, so you can come to a conclusion on this situation. Don't give up on BMW yet, this is a new product that most do not know much about yet.

i dont understand? how do you upshift? no disrespect but your left arm cant work at the same time as your braking foot? but you can up shift with a foot on the gas? there is really no need to downshift in normal driving while braking is there? how about D mode? sorry if stupid questions as I am a ignorant MT driver. .

Uhh...You are absolutely right, you don't understand. There is no better time to downshift than when you are braking. It makes perfect sense to me... brake with left hand, steer and downshift with right hand. The left hand is obviously not needed for braking while upshifting, so upshifts can be done by the left hand.
You ask why not drive in D mode? Why not just drive a camry with an automatic? Maybe because it's more fun and satisfying to drive in S mode?
This should be a no brainer. A simple matter of swapping two wires.
