Hi all!
Selling this M performance exhaust th purchased from another forum member. All of the reinforcement & repair work had been completed by previous owner. I had it on for a solid 700 miles before it cracked on the opposite side.

Looks like the previous owner used carbon steel filler to do the weld repair, hence the rust at the weld repair. These are inconel construction so should have been weld repaired with NiCrMo-3 or 625.

The chances of someone ever repairing this properly are slim to none unless you walk into an aerospace shop. Best of luck with the sale, shame BMW are cunts who knock out stuff like this. They sound amazing but this is bollox.

Yeah BMW couldn’t get an MPE exhaust right out of the gate if their life depended on it. Same crap happened with the F80 Titanium MPE.

Currently I don't. I wouldn't be too worried about careful shipping it's already pretty beat up. Just unbolt the connecting pipes and throw it in a box with some packing peanuts would be fine.

for anyone wondering about repairs I finally took it to a welder with aircraft experience after months of this sitting on my porch. quoted around 300 to repair all the cracks and nasty spots and add tubes to make it a V2. will post pics of the finish product once I have it back, cleaned up and painted black.

Would love to see this. If this can be some kind of a permanent fix it'd give new life to these cracked ones.

Btw, any sound difference between the V1 vs V2? Gotta research this topic.

I doubt there will be any noticeable sound difference as it’s just the tube passing through the middle, but I could be wrong. Hoping it will be a permanent fix, I assume if it fails again it will be where the original repairs were made with incorrect wire. Hopefully that won’t happen but if it does i will take it in again to have that part cut out and new inconel welded in
