I wouldn't want to ride in the back of a buddy's "luxury" coupe. I'd drive myself or ride with somebody who had a seat with a door. From my perspective it's almost pointless to have seats back there unless you have a bunch of friends who's cars are so bad they'd rather ride in the back of yours or you want to stuff kids there on the rare occasion. If it was so rare, I'd consider cars with smaller back seats or just get a two seater and swap with the wife on the very rare occasion that I was taking the kids.

I'll be the first to admit that I just don't get the entire "coupe" market segment. Then again, I don't get SUV's either so there's a lot of stuff I don't get.

I wouldn't want to ride in the back of a buddy's luxury coupe either, that's why I bought my own. I could also care less if someone getting in the back doesn't have their own door. The coupe just looks so much sportier in my opinion. If necessary to fit four people the back seat is definitely usable, they just gotta crawl in from the front which so far hasn't been a problem for anyone I've given a ride to.

Sedan because:

- Not a fan of the CF roof
- Not a fan of the way the lines are from the doors back
- Not a fan of the rear
- Not a fan of the seatbelt holder
- Love every angle of the sedan
- Nice to be able to open the back doors to carry things (briefcase, etc)
- Because it's my decision and this is what I wanted

I had a couple of cars before this where I tried to mix practicality with performance and it was always a compromise - whether it had to do with getting winter wheels or less performance. Although the E90 is much less of a compromise than some other options, I couldn't love the looks of the rear end (even the facelift). So I decided to get a X5 for practicality (hauling stuff, people and in the snow) and get the E92 because it was the car I really wanted.

That being said, the E90 M3 is a great car, and just before my E92 was delivered, I saw a JB/Black E90 in the showroom and wondered if I had made the right choice. It has much more presence in real life than the non-M E90s.

Basically, you're saying it's all based on your personal opinion of the looks; and the fact that your briefcase requires a door, LOL...joking.

Either car is great

I got the coupe

three reasons:

1) CF roof looks cool not like a Fast and Furious ricer treatment nice and understated but cool

2) Like the coupe lines, looks etc. kind of neat robot to hand you the seatbelt.

3) Didn't think the sedan looks as nice and mean etc. the sedan is very plain looking IMO but would be very stealth.

--

If I could go back in time, I'd probably get the sedan because it's a PITA to use the rear seats in the coupe and the sedan would be more convenient especially to throw a bag in the back seat. But overall the coupe still looks nicer, just I would find the usefullness of the sedan and the cheaper price more to my liking.

For those that stated they bought the coupe for performance over the sedan, I doubt the difference in performance between the two is even noticeable in daily driving, and probably hardly measurable on the track. The difference is only a few pounds between the two and everything else on the car is the same.

I love my coupe but I bought it for the looks.
