not yet he's dropping off after the 4th weekend....I'll stand up for Sergio as I know him personally and have gone on a couple of drives w/ him, he's a class act.

Stability control systems do look at your steering input and consider that in conjunction with loss of traction and data from yaw rate sensors in an understeer situation and decrease power or apply brake(s) for the car to regain traction and directional stability.
Yeah, I have personal experience. On the skid pad I was able to produce very serious understeer, to the point where the tires were scrubbing and the car was essentially pushing straight out of the radius. I did it with DSC on.

Are you sure you had DSC fully on?

BMW website:

"DSC sensors detect wheelspin or under - or over - steering."

I got on a ramp once in my E46 assuming the ramp would at least be neutrally banked as most roads are. It turned out that particular ramp had a significant reverse bank which was not visible prior to entering the curve, and the car experienced severe understeer. Just when the thought flashed in my mind that I would run out of road (it happened really fast and I could not possibly humanly correct it), DSC kicked in and saved my ass.

Maybe DSC has a higher threshold for kicking in an understeer situation at low speed, but it will kick in if things are really wrong. Or at least it should...

It's simple if the light was off DSC was on.

I don't doubt the man at all.

Just wanted to know what the dealer said, maybe just a software issue.

I should have proof read my post before I put it up. What I meant was that I never saw it flash. I have my Mdrive set to DSC OFF. My DSC light was on when I felt the power loss, as I had turned off as much computerized aides as possible. I had for the most part forgotten the incidents by the time we stopped for food, until Sergio brought up that he had a similar incident.

I haven't had a chance to attempt to recreate this yet, nor have I heard from Sergio about it. As of right now I am chalking it up to a computer glitch. I'll be on a track with it in the coming weeks, so I will definitely be testing out then.

Keep us posted. I don't have tech pack on my car and so far it seems when I turn of DSC it is totally off.

That's pretty funny, because in the cars we drove at M Intensive Training at Salzburgring in the understeer exercise that's exactly what they showed us DSC slows you down (inner wheels) to get you out of understeer. With DSC off you went straight. Also the understeer was to the point where the tires scrub.

If DSC on doesn't intervene for understeer it is not functioning as intended.

I haven't really tried a lot of understeer in my car as I prefer to deal with oversteer...
