Those who have a Gruppe M intake, install right away or wait break in period
I got a Gruppe M intake on order along with other things and I'm wondering: Should I install right away or wait break-in period. I was thinking I should wait the break-in.When did you install?

I would wait for the break-in period. Among more unpredictable outcomes, you will most likely raise all kinds of red flags at your dealership for your 1200 mile service.

I know it is hard, but just wait....you don't want the dealership thinking you are racer-x or anything.

Plus what's the fun of a new intake if you can't redline the car and listen to it? I would wait until after the break in period.

I don't get it. How will delaying installation make the potential dealership issue go away? The car will need to be serviced again in about a year anyway. Are you guys suggesting that he takes the intake off before each dealership visit? Or are you guys saying the car has a higher chance of having issues during the initial 1000 miles, so ride that out to make sure there is nothing wrong with it first before modding so that if there is something wrong with it, it wouldn't be pinned on the mod?

This is a brand new car. It will be prone to issues as a first model year. Not to mention, after the 1,200 mile service you have another 20,000 miles before the dealer has to look under your hood assuming nothing goes wrong.
When you go beyond what is recommended at break-in, a dealer knows it based on the information that is stored and that could be retrieved during your 1,200 mile service. Along those lines, you better believe that if anything remotely close to the engine fails or has an issue they will be pointing fingers at your intake whether its reasonable or not. |

It all just depends on the dealership really....some are cool with it, some have a fricken cow! (eg: one poster had super blue brake fluid in his car and the dealer noted that he had "racing fluid" installed) Tell me that does not leave a mark on your record for future issues.....

I agree that different dealerships might have different takes on mods. I spoke with a few guys at the dealership about modding and tracking when I bought the car, and they were extremely cool with it. So I suggest speaking to them first to find out more about their attitude, and if they won't be friendly in that regard, maybe going to another dealership.

yeah, thanks for the link but it did not say much, I know it wont be much of an issue with just the muffler but I've heard things get tricky from the headers back
As far as the intake, I'll wait til the 1200 so the car breaks in as it was intended |
