I agree with you, the OEM leather boot and knob look much cleaner and subtle. I was able to shorter the height and the throw of my 6MT e46 M3 using Dinan SSK. So if you dont mind Dinan, it may be available now, I was able to shorten it by .5 inch. I complemented it with a EVO DSSR4 and took out the indirect shift linkage, making it direct link to the tranny gear. So maybe the same principle applies to the e92.

My UUC SSK made the lever taller in my E46. I thought that was true for just about all of them.

i swapped my stock knob for a shorter oem one from a regular 3 series and i'm actually quite pleased with it. it shortens the distance the hand moves and feels much better imho...
but i still want a ssk... cheers |

SSK is much needed. No offense to the BMW folk, but relative to my E36 SSK and the STi SSK, it feels like the grain trucks I grew up driving. Again, NO OFFENSE, but it should have been the "SSK" way from the factory.

I'm surprised people are content with the long throw on the E92 M3, it took me a while to get used to. I also read a lot of posts that complain about the shifter being notchy and it is anything but notchy, way too smooth I think. I'd be interested in a short shifter and a heavier knob that stays lit up.

I agree that this car needs a SSK. I probably wouldn't have thought so if I had driven an e46 M3 before and after a SSK install. What a huge difference. So if anyone out in Cali wants to make the sacrifice, maybe we can get B&M to start making them.
