I really need to make a decision on wheels....
Ive looked into this like nothing on Earth for 2 months now.
I had BBS CHs on my TT previously and whilst they are very nice wheels, I'm not convinced they suit the M. I also like LMs but am wary that in 19s they will look small due to the design (I'm not intending to lower the car at all). Only other wheel I have seen that is potentially suitable is an OZ Superleggera in black but again, they are a little bland in the looks department (whilst being very light). I have factory 18s for track. So onto the point of the post, and it is my last post on the issue as I really need to make a decision. So I looked at Breyton GTS Race wheels in black. Finally got some concrete costs and data. Would these fit properly? Front 8.5X19 ET30 rear 9.5X19 ET35. A spacer for the rear of 12mm. Would be on Michelin PS2s in the same size as the OEM 19s. The wheels weigh 11kgs front and 11.8kgs rears.

Superleggera hasn't been made in 3 years. It was replaced by the less asthetically appealling Ultraleggera. The Superleggera III is still around...
BBS LMs are dated and overapplied. The LM-R is new and would be "period correct." I'm keeping the stock 18s as I like the look, especially as the match the Space Gray giving the car a very aggressive look. I also like the look of the meaty sidewall with 18s.

My bad on the OZs, I meant O.Z. Ultraleggera HLT although I have now discovered they only do them in 20s which is out.
Agree on LMs, although they are nice, done to death. Dont like the LM-R purely because I dont think wheels with 'a rim' such as LMs, LM-Rs etc will look big enough on a car this size. OZ Superturismo WRCs would look great on an AW M3 but I doubt they make them to fit. Am checking but I bet they dont. ![]() I think the Breyton GTS is probably one of few options. ![]()

Fascinating though that is, thats not really what I asked.
Anyone able to confirm if the ETs and Spacers I mentioned are ok?

Preferably Slicks otherwise Michelin Sport Cup! Slicks are not made, as far as I can recall, for 19" or 20" wheels. For sure not 20". If you change your brakes though, you may have clearance problems with 18" and in some cases even with 19", so you see, this is somewhat of a catch 22!! Really depends what you want.

the standard offsets are ET 29 and ET 23, so doesn't that mean you would need a spacer up front as well? or is the 1mm irrelevant?

Factory 18s with factory 18 inch tyres (Michs).
This (the other posts) is what I was looking for, thanks. So, wheel position wise on the back that set up would be flush with the wheel arch to the same extent the factory 19s are and on the front it would be 1mm inset at either side? I wonder if this set up is lighter or the same as, with spacers, the factory 19s without. Best do some investigation.

Leg,
You should be fine with those specs & rear 12mm spacers. I'll be using those exact specs in the front as well but with a different wheel. IMHO, I wouldn't run spacers but that's just my paranoid self talking. However, I read somewhere recently Breyton's going to make a better fitment for the rears without spacers but not sure if it'll be soon or not. I suggest contacting them directly to find out. I'm not a big fan of BBS due to the fact they're overpriced! Don't get me wrong, I love how the LM-R's look but they're not worth the $$$ asking price as fine of a wheel they are. Plus everyone & their mom, sister, dad, aunt, uncle, cousin, nephew & niece has a set of BBS wheels. And that includes me in the past (before their ridiculous price jump).

This is what has been recommended to me. Just gonna sleep on it before I decide. £2350 all in.
>> Breyton GTS Race wheels in matt black as follows: >> 2 x front 8.5X19 ET30 >> 2 x rear 9.5X19 ET35 >> 2 x 12mm spacers for the rear >> 2 x Michelin Pilot Sport 2 front tyres 245/35/19 >> 2 x Michelin Pilot Sport 2 rear tyres 265/35/19 >> 4 Breyton centres

Leg-
Since you are basically ordering a completely new set of wheels/tires (not reusing the tires) why not add four TPMs while you're at it?

From what I can gather information wise this is the weight comparison with the OEM 19s. They probably arent 100% accurate as they are from weights Ive found on here and suppliers/Breyton but they clearly arent far off and for road use, even with the addition of a few hundred grams for a spacer, they are as near as dammit the same as BMW recommend weight wise so I'm happy with that. I can finally book some sodding track days for the summer once this is sorted and rag the hell out of the 18s without worrying about road use! ![]() Wheel.....................BMW OEM 19.............................Breyton GTS Race 19 Front......................10.74kg................ ....................11kg Rear.......................11.88kg................ ....................11.8kg

Well, I have the OEM 18s now with 45 depth tyres that fill the arches nicely. There are 25.4mm in an inch so thats a total of 502.2mm for the 18 inch wheel and 45mm tyre and 517.6mm for the 19inch wheel and 35mm tyre. So, the 19s with relevant tyres will fill the arches by 7.5mm (i.e. half the extra height) more than the currents et up which will be nicely snug. In fact, after all that calculation, I just realised they are exactly the same size as OEM 19s, so any old pic answers the question LOL!
