Should i be this crazy..? (m3 first service)
My dealership did not have the filters to change during my first service.. so they changed the fluids and had me pick the car up, and are callin me in 7-10 days for the filters change.
Question is.. Do i tell them i want all the fluids changed AGAIN along with the filters b/c the whole point of the service was to clean out ANY contaminants cause by breaking in..??? (so they both were meant to be done at once) ...or would that be giving them a hard time for nothing?? |

It's gotten cheaper? It was like $8 / liter when I had the E46M. It's still Castrol TWS 10W60, right?

$9/liter (TWS 10W60) x ~8.5 liters = $77. I would not be concerned about the small amount of oil left behind in the old filter. Just change the filter.

I shoulda been clearer - sorry. TWS is $9/liter, I use Mobile 1 20W-50 and half the BMW service interval

Per BMW the filter is 0.4L, or roughly 5% of the total oil in the engine (can you tell I'm bored?)

And if the filter is emptied of standing oil, it's probably <0.1 liter.

Is Mobil 1 approved by BMW? I know on the E46 M3 it was not. Personally, I would not risk warranty to save $35 per oil change. I do in-between changes, as well, but only with TWS.
