Ted Haggard,
![]() ![]() ![]() In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership positions after allegations of homosexual sex and drug abuse were made by Mike Jones, a former prostitute. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones, but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual immorality" to his list of confessions.[2] ![]() ![]() ![]()

The same as any other of the Abrahamic Religions.
The majority of those who practice have a positive influence, unifying people, providing support, and helping their community. There is also a fairly large group of extremists, or orthodox practicers, that have a negative influence, by contesting that their form of worship is the only correct one, and generally preaching theocracy, bigotry, and other socially destructive practices. The smallest groupe would be the violent extremists. The religiously motivated terrorists that all all Abrahamic faiths seem to produce along the fringes. Very difficult to make a generalized statement about any religion. Too many different kinds of people practice. |

I'm curious why you chose a Christian as opposed to any other religion. Do you feel that atheists are targetting Christians specifically?
Religious people in general are like any other group of people with a common belief, harmless until they open their mouth. |

Yeah I wonder why the thread is about Christians? Hmm...
If I was to answer though I'd say a Christian is who keeps the commandments and follows the example of Prophet Jesus (AS) as it is clearly recorded in the Bible. He kept fasts, he prayed with his forehead on the ground like all the other prophets in the Bible, he didnt eat pork or become drunk. He also grew a beard. He remembered God at all times and testified that ultimate power and all knowledge is with God. He reveals it to whom he pleases. Knowledge like that of the last hour is only with God. He healed those blind, diseased and even gave life to the dead by the power God GAVE him. The ironic thing is that as a Muslim I have NO problem with admitting any of the above. Infact it is perfectly inline with Islam ![]()

Indeed. The three Abrahamic religions are all remarkably similar. The only thing that gives practitioners of a given religion a bad name, is the actions of those who do and say idiotic things using religion as a justification. |

Good questions. I'll explain the different abbreviations you might see. We Muslims never say a Prophets name just as it is...
(PBUH) - This stands for "Peace be upon him". (SAW) - This is arabic for "Sallalahu Aleyhi Wasallam" which means "May the Peace and Blessings of Allah (God) be upon him" (AS) - This is arabic for "Alayhi Salaam" which means "upon him be peace". The 1st and 3rd are given to Prophets of Allah but the 2nd one is recited after the Holy Prophet (SAW)'s name.

It's in the name: Beleif that Christ Jesus came to Earth as the only begotten son of God, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, buried, and rose from the dead after three days to open the gates to heaven for all the sinners who beleive in him. The key is BELEIF. Not acts of kindness, not how many alms were given to the poor, not haw many children you molest.

As we read the bible we just have to be good people and do good things. The bible is a guidense - not a book to follow side by side. That would be realy stupid and the world would not move for 2000 years. Pork and alcohol? - you can make it - its for your pleasure. Where do Jesus say that you must not eat pork? - or drink? Only extremists follows the bible word for word. Remember. Its a story written by people and its 2000 years old. Lots of things changed sinse then.
