I wonder if there's a way to know for sure. I'm pretty sure Fifth and I were built on the first day of M-DCT production. I'm not sure how far down the list that goes though.

I just spoke to the "head production manager" and he said that although you have an earlier VIN number, my car was the first in line.

All kidding aside, I think we all went into production on the same day and will all finish tomorrow. But it does look like yours was the first in line!

That makes sense because I heard there are specific production lines of each exterior color. So 1 line could go faster since it has less orders.

No proof....just heard it.

I'm guessing/hoping that most if not all the bugs will be worked out. They've been testing this tranny for a long time. I can't wait to drive it.

I would think they do that but after body and paint. Probably like 7 lanes going into 1..or something like that.

If your talking about 1 only line, then I would think the production numbering would be grouped more by color, which you, fifth, and pasta would have the same color ... not the case

I toured the Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator plant in Michigan twice. There seemed to be no order to the cars going down the assembly line. Colors of vehicles and even vehicle type (Ford or Lincoln), it all seemed random. I don't remember if the VINs were sequential as they got to the end of the line or not.

My VIN is 40486. It's currently in status 151 (Body shop) phase and has a completion date of March 7th.

Also, DCT is finally showing up on the OC for me, but still no 19's.

Update: OC now lists M-DCT on my order. Everything is now there except 19" wheels.

I suspect all the M-DCT cars are bunched together VIN wise so they can work this new technology all at once on the assembly line.

APW, I'd have your CA send you a copy of the order sheet from the BMW ordering system. That's what I did to confirm M-DCT was on the order.
