How long did it take your E9X M3 to be loaded onto a ship after it was produced?

The ship arrived yesterday, so my M3 should be at the port now. No word yet on how long it will be at the VPC or when it will ship to my dealer.

Well since i live in NJ and the port is in Newark NJ, i think the time should be faster since its weekly!

Not sure how your location will make the wait on the docs shorter if a ship pretty much leaves for each US port every week?

ahh, i see. the issue is that all ships that make it to new york also stop in the uk and another spot i think before they make the crossing, whereas that is not the case for ships that head out to MD for instance. so, east coast "shipping" times might actually be pretty close. if you look at the schedules, you'll be able to pin down any differences if any.

This turned out better than I though. If we adjust for the person who misclicked, we have:

less than 1 Week: 6
1-2 Weeks: 9
2-3 Weeks: 2

So, it seems unlikely that a car will sit at port for more than 2 weeks. I hope mine makes it in less than a week!

Great information here. I am still a bit unclear on how to best determine when my car is scheduled to ship; it left production on Friday. Should I just key in my vin on the shipping site each day until it shows, call the BMW 800 number or is there a better way? I am trying to get a handle on delivery date to determine whether I need to extend my 550 lease or not. Also, am I correct that in understanding that a car destined for Tampa goes into Charleston?

I am assuming they would scan the VIN right before it is driven onto a ship, and if it shows up on the WW tracking site, that's pretty much what that means. I don't know how one tracks a car that is sitting around waiting to be loaded though, but I guess the dealer is the best source on that one.

Hey lucid, our cars should be rolling off the production line soon, no? 800 # tells me it was supposed to be done yesterday while reps last week said either march 2nd or 3rd. How long does it take to actually get to the docks before it even starts waiting for a boat?

Hmm, going by the shipping schedule we could realistically catch boats leaving on the

10th - arrives 24th
13th - 27th
19th - 1st
20th - 3rd

Counting 7 days at the VPC after that and 2-3 days shipping to dealer, I think first week of april is still realistic?

If PCD is still a possibility - it would be required to catch the boat leaving on the 10th to get to SC from NY on the 29th (the next one arrives the 6th = PCD closed)

Mine is supposed to be done today. We should have conclusive info on Monday from the 800# reps. My understanding is that it takes only a few days for the car to be transported to the docks. runutzzzzz's car was loaded onto a ship within 2 days of production! Lucky guy.

Ships scheduled for NY:

Liberty: 3/4, ETA: 3/16
Boheme: 3/6, ETA: 3/20
Integrity: 3/10, ETA: 3/24
Elektra: 3/13, ETA: 3/27
Independence II: 3/19, ETA: 4/1
Manon: 3/20, ETA: 4/3

I really hope my car makes it to one of the former, but realistically, it'll probably be one of the latter. Most likely Elektra.

2 days is crazy tho - if we're that fortunate then delivery in march would be mad

Domer's and my car have been at the docks now for over a week.. my guess is there is long line to get onto one of the ships... On a better note there appears to be two ships Liberty and Courage due into port in a couple of days and maybe they will clear a large amount of the line so the rest of you will board more quickly.

DeSimone is about 10 miles from my house so this will be easy. Let me know when and I will be there.

I'm not buying my car there because I can save 4% in taxes by buying in PA. Long story.

Agreed that Elektra would have a higher chance in kicking Poseidon in the gonads, but judging from his recent absence, it seems like Poseidon has run out of steam due his recent misfortune in the ordering process, so I actually feel for him.

If hopping onto a ship in 2 days is a possibility, we would be burning rubber at the end of March indeed!
