this is way high...I was at the dealer last week and I was told for for a 650i that was 82K: 2400 down it comes up to 1200 a month including tax...I assumed at that time that M3 will be less. If the figures you guys came up with is accurate it is better to buy it than wasting 43K ... this is my thought

Why do you get a new car every 9 months?

Don't you lose a lot of money doing that?

Are you buying slightly used cars? or

never been driven brand-new current model year cars?

M cars should have higher MF for sure, like much higher, but should have at least the same residual

This makes no sense, Quick caculations on lease payments for a $70k M3 come out to about $1400 a month with 8% tax included. For BMW where 65% of the cars are leased they are removing themselves from the market.

I need confirmation of this.

I need confirmation of THIS. (bolded)

It was a figure that I was told by someone at BMW. We were talking in general, but the figure is right. More than half of all new BMW's sold are leased.

I found this here: http://www.edmunds.com/advice/leasin...1/article.html

"Letting folks transfer their lease makes particularly good sense for Mercedes-Benz and BMW; in 2007, leasing made up a whopping 32 and 60 percent of their respective sales."

No problem. I didn't really say before that I wasn't financing the whole amount. That would suck. Payment will be less than half of what everyone is about in here.

MSRP of 60k with options, and as I said, I used the lease numbers from the E90 M3.

The reason the residual value is a low percentage is because the MSRP is so high to begin with.... does that make sense or am I not understanding this? The more you pay, the more you lose. Extreme examples would be the 996 GT2 (depreciated like a rock, percentage-wise) and a Honda Civic (doesn't depreciate much, percentage-wise)

The M3 is an expensive car when you option it out and add on Cali tax. That's why I've hesitated. This isn't in the same ballpark as the E46 M3 was. The E92 would be about $75K for me OTD and that's quite a large chunk to lay down "for a 3 series."

I think the new M3 may have priced itself out of the market, just like the M5's sitting on the lots at $98K MSRP. If you wait, there will likely be deals.

With US consumers tapped out, not everyone can afford a BMW anymore, and I think that's GOOD!

I have seen it happen before. You will NO WAY get a c36 for $1000

Out out Audi, BMW and MB. BMW will have the best residuals and MF, Audi may have a lower MF, but also MUCH lower residuals and MB will have bad MF and Residuals.

Sorry, its just how it is, dont shoot the messenger.

Actually for the S5, Audi has a better residual and a worse MF, compared to the E92 M3.

The costs of the car has no effect on the residuals. BMW's are known for their high residuals.

Yes, BMW fooled us all at first with the relatively low base price, but how many people will end up buying bare bones cars without the packages and leather? They are making us pay $400 for a USB port, and who doesn't need a USB port these day? Clever, ha? Regardless of how restrained one intends to be, this is more like a $65k car without taxes.

I don't think the M3s will get hit as hard as the M5s, but yes, there will be significant deals this time next year. I don't have the patience to wait for that though.

You probably threatened to sink all the ships they have cars on and got the deal, so an exception really.
