Debadging

So I ordered my M3 saloon a few weeks ago debaged, looking around at all the pictures on here this doesn't seem to be a common choice

Anyone else planning debadging their M3's or will I have the only one

I've thought about it. I'll decide when I actually get the car. I debadged my 325 and it cleaned up the rear end quite a bit. It looks more balanced w/out the badge on one side. Plus, I like the idea of an M3 sleeper as most people where I live don't know the differences between an M and non-M, except that an M is more expensive.

Glad to see I'm not the only one

I guess it depends what country you are in but in the UK if you drove into a customers car park with a porsche etc they tend to think they are paying you to much so a certain level of discretion doesn't hurt (and 90% of people won't know any difference between a 4 door m3 and a normal one I expect).

Has anyone seen a picture of what the side vents will look like debaged?

That's the problem: The M3 badge on the side vent stays, the debadge option only affects the rear badge.

This thread shouldn't have been moved. Debadging as talked about here is not a modification, it's a factory option. Someone willing to move it back?

I've thought about debadging as well. However, I doubt I will order my car that way. I think I'd like to live with the badge on it for a little bit at least. Then debadge as the life span continues a bit.

Absolutly. When you order a debadged M3 the rear badge is left off. The side vents will still have the M3 badges on.

Wow, I love these little differences. Not even being offered, it must be way less popular in the U.S. But to be honest: There are more 320i driving around here with M3 badges on the trunk than debadged M cars. So I guess it's not even that popular here.

Yeah I think there is some useful info here from yourself on this thread about how the factory debadging option works, I'm sure it might be helpful for others

In the UK you see some "non Bmw's" with M3 badges on them.

If the problem of people faux badging their cars was big in my area I would probably carry a Type-R badge in my car, and when I saw a mis-badged car I'd stick the Type-R badge right underneath it.

I think the majority of people in America buying M cars care more about status than performance. It's not even worth BMW's effort to offer it.

I could never delete my badge, it's the signal for every large SUV to get on the gas and run with me at stoplights /sarcasm.

Fully agree. Although I will buy it because it is the closest thing to a F430 that I can afford, I still value the status the car brings as well. Part of the culture here in the US i guess.

Wow i agree, on both statements exactly. Someday I'll get the 430, M3 for now.

Oh and after working so hard to get an M badge on my bimmer the last thing i would do is take it off.
