Help to identify buzz noise in cabin when driving on uneven surface: Video included
You can't qualify this as a "rattle" because rattles on the interior cabin are a constant. This is more of a "buzz" which occurs when driving over uneven sections of road - or joints in the highway.
It appears to be coming from the center - possibly the vent closest to the windshield. Initially thought it was from the engine bay - but sound is too prominant. Cabin filters were just changed by dealer, so thats not the cause. My other thought was rear view mirror? But removed it, and buzz remained. Has anyone else had this buzz? What else can I do in order to isolate where it is coming from? Last edited by Exclusivs; 07-08-2015 at 07:53 AM.. |

I can't see the video, but I had something that might be similar to what you describe. I determined it was coming from the hole in the dash under the center speaker. Removing the center speaker and the holder for it didn't change anything so it seems to be coming from deep within the dash. Since it was deep in the dash, I couldn't find what was making the noise, so I ended up stuffing the entire area with pollyfill stuffing so the sound wouldn't come through. It didn't completely end the noise, but it is reduced by 95% so it no longer really bothers me.

Coincidently, I too started noticing the noise more so after coilover installation - which lead me to believe it is coming from the engine bay and resonating into the cabin.
