I was in a new 2014 BMW and they had a newer maps version for 2014. Interesting that these new ones for my car are labelled 2013, but the new cars have a 2014 version... I don't get why they can't use the same maps... I guess my 2013 car will have little upgrade support from BMW. Boo.

There are 2014 maps for your vehicle, North America PREMIUM 2014-2.

Newer 2014 model cars have a different navigation system (called the NBT) and they use a completely different set of maps called North America NEXT.

BMW fully supports all of their previous navigation systems with new maps every year (and sometimes twice a year). There's even 2014 maps available for the original MKIII/MKIV navigation system going all of the way back to pre-2000.

WTF -- I just bought the 2013 maps in like October.. now you're saying 2014 is out for my car? FML

Guess I gotta pay up again every 6 months? Way to support their customers BMW. Even Garmin's have lifetime map updates for a $200 device.

Hi,
I have 2011 X5. I guess I need the USB stick. What is the latest version right now? When you do the update, do you have to start the engine?

Thanks,
CP

NAV update

*****Model years 2010 till present 2013 have no issues at all with using the USB stick as your firmware on CIC headunit is up to date!!******

Take a look at these two pictures...Notice the round circle on the bottom left hand corner. If your unit has the little check mark on the round black circle(pic #1) then its good to go with the usb stick in glovebox update for 2014 maps. If your unit doesnt have the check mark and is a black circle only, (pic #2) then the only way to update is using the 3 DVD disk method, or goto the dealer and get your navigation CIC headunit updated to the newer firmware to allow the usb to recognize the usb map update stick. The usb stick update located in the glovebox takes about 45 minutes as suppose to the 3 DVD disk which takes about 3 hours. Both will require the FSC activation code..
This is what I got...how can I update to the 2014 version?

Thumbs up 2014-2 Update Done!

Decided spur of the moment on Sunday to update my 2011 M3 to the newest maps. Contacted Baccus and got an immediate reply. Sent payment via PayPal and had a download link to the maps within minutes.

Baccus promised me an activation code by 9pm ET on Monday (Memorial Day). I was obviously going to let that promise slide given it's a holiday. Nonetheless, the code was sent on time to promise.

Just finished the update process this evening. Everything went exactly according to the instructions Baccus provided. Overall, can't say enough good things about the customer service and customer experience.

Thanks!
