50k Blackstone oil, dct and diff fluid reports

Did oil, dct fluid and diff fluid change at 50K miles and sent everything to blackstone. Reports below.

So it looks like lead spike I had in my previous oil sample is gone. The only difference is last oil had 2 track weekends on it, while this sample had no track. Makes sense taking into account that they originally suspected it being due to racing. I guess track does put some extra wear on the engine.

Interesting to see that DCT fluid and diff fluid are perfect. Blackstone recommends going 100K on both. Still glad I had all that changed/tested.

This time I filled it up with Mobil 1 0w40. We'll see how that holds up over next 5k.

how can the diff fluid be factory fill? i thought it's supposed to be replaced at 1200 miles during the break in period? and further still it's supposed to be replaced every 3rd engine oil change. Did you only have 3 engine oil changes in 50000 miles?

That is news to me. I had oil changes every 5k. I don't think diff fluid change was part of any of them.

Since per factory specs oil changes are to be done every 10k, you're saying that diff fluid has to be changed every 30k? Is that right?

Sounds about right, yes. That's what I normally do mine at anyway, and this fluid is like liquid gold ($$).

Thanks for sharing the info with us

I wonder if the DCT fluid looking good is the result of too few submissions, creating their "average"? In either case, the reports look great. I know the LiquiMoly stuff is thick, according to their spec sheet, good to see it's working for you.

You have to remember that transmissions are sealed units and do not have to deal with contaminants like engine oil does. It's why the change interval for ATF, MTF, gear oils, etc. is quite long.

My FF DCT fluid looked awesome at 50k and probably could've stayed in another 20-30k.

That's funny because it seems the more I track mine, the lower my lead goes.

This is not at all what they wrote. They advised to check back again after about another 50k, that's about 50k after the change you just did. Did I miss something?

I guess you could interpret it differently. The way I read it "without draining" means they thought I just took a sample and did not drain/refill, so to go another 50K without draining the rest.

But I see how it can be interpreted as "just do same thing as last time". Since this sample was done at 50K.

Yeah. BMW has added LL-01 oils to the list of approved oils for E9x M3. Mobil 1 0w40 is an LL-01 oil. Some people on here speculate it was done to combat bearing clearance issues.

In Any case, if it's approved, is cheaper and maybe helps with rod bearing wear, why not?

Just to be clear, I'm not suggesting that tracking helps the rod bearings. Correlation does not equal causation.

I am still running the OEM stuff, 10W-60
