The clutch job in an 08 m3 requires a new flywheel as the 08 clutch plate/disk has been superseded by the 09+ which requires the 09+ flywheel. The flywheel+clutch/pressure plate will cost you 2000 for parts via getbmwparts. So figure 2000 + labor.

We can install this for you.

We are also an authorized OS Giken reseller if you are looking for an upgraded clutch/flywheel assembly.

the reason I know this is because I had to swap pressure plates when my 08 one broke…. The plus side is that the newer 09+ unit is much quieter and has a more linear engagement point… the dealer wanted 4500 for the entire job… i went elsewhere.

I replaced mine right when I bought it. They're all correct 2K plus labor if you can get parts at or close to cost

Thanks for the feedback guys. And I appreciate the PMs vendors. I am under CPO warranty and Maintenance Warranty. I decided to roll the dice and bring the car to the dealer.

Agreement was that if the clutch was damaged due to abuse then I would be on the hook for the bill ($1400 in labor @ 9 hrs, optional $2700 in parts if i decided i wanted to replace). If there was no signs of abuse then warranty would be covered. Note: I have never done any burnouts, launches, donuts, etc..however, I'm not the original owner.

SO i rolled the dice and this is what they found:

What they found was a broken spring which damaged the flywheel. End result= covered. WHEW

Got the car back yesterday. Noticed the clutch pedal feel is significantly lighter than before. Will break in the clutch ~500 miles and report back.

Hopefully you guys don't need a new clutch anytime soon.

Clutch slipping in higher gears (3rd-6th) around 3k rpm. Usually when it is cold (50F) as well.

However, it was inconsistent. It would happen for a day and then go away. and then come back again.
