Shift Lights (DCT)

I noticed I don't get shift lights unless I'm in mdm mode. Is this correct? Thanks.

You can set it to light up in the options menu through idrive. Once you are in the MDM settings, click options and thats where you can set the start up settings, including the shift lights. Regardless, it onlly lights up during heavy acceleration

They are set to on in the menu. But if I'm not in mdm more they don't turn on.

You have to change the key settings I believe. Not just change the settings for M Mode.

You have to set it through the control menu off of the cruise control stalk. Or open mdm settings on idrive and press the option button on the controller to open m key settings.

If it doesn't light up, you didn't do what I stated. You can use the shift lights with MDM and/or in key mode.

You have it set for only MDM mode. Go to the MDM menu and click options. That will open up another menu that includes all your standard start up settings. In that menu, you will see another shift light on/off

keep in mind you really have to stand on your throttle to get the lights to engage, they won't turn on with casual city/freeway driving

and IIRC they usually only come on in d4/s4 or higher (might be d5/s5?)

Because 6mt is much slower so they decided to remove weight wherever deemed unnecessary to try and make it not look so slow compared to dct.

What's a tach?

If you're worried about bouncing off the redline, you probably shouldn't take your eyes off the road.

Not sure if this is possible or if anyone has ever done it, but has anyone tried putting a dct cluster in a 6mt?

I don't get it.

An "rpm" is just another word for rev. That needle counts them for you. Hence, rev counter.

Tack-o-meter sound like something that gauges your car's tackiness.

My watch has a tachymeter around the bezel but the only thing it counts for me is not revs per minute but minutes until my clothes are dry or my pasta is ready. Pastameter

Don't forget about parking meters. Apparently, this "tach" thingy is very versatile.

Do all cars have this or is this specific to Ms? I'm guessing only we have them because we have such fast revving motors.
