He's admitted it outright in his videos: drifting = more views. More views helps the channel out.

I dont have sub to the mag (is it available in the US) but was talking about their web channel. For a while, their videos just werent good. I wish they uploading more episodes on a weekly basis.

Yes they're available in the US, but their electronic mag is much better and works for any iOS device. They've always been on the pricey side though.

I've always preferred EVO's vids over everything else. Their latest COTY 2013 vids are top notch.

Drive caters to many tastes. As far as power slides aka drifting and such, I believe you are alluding to Chris Harris---they allow him to do what he wants and have fun. When he truly evaluates a car, like the new GT3, he is analytical, and gives an honest assessment. And so is Steve on Autocar. It's different than the American bench racing videos---by the numbers. Sure numbers count, but what about the way they feel.

And that's why I like Drive, it's different and allows the reviewer to have fun.
Do you think that Lister would have let Chris Harris co-drive the Lister Jag if he was only about power slides? No, they wouldn't. Or Mclaren and their GT 12C? No They wouldn't.

Yeah. Basically these are tests of what the car can do beyond its limits. But chris harris and his drive network have inside access to interesting things (things big networks cant put that much time and effort into)Multi episodes of koeniggseg, bentley, morgan, aston martin; driving a full electric race car, racing in the lister, driving the bmw dtm car, etc.

Heck, hes doing such a good job that ferrari (once banned chris harris) gave him an ff with multiple sets of extra tires to do his thing.

Agree that it is largely Chris Harris who powerslides when he has the chance and those videos are not interesting to me. In general the whole gamut of Drive's videos bore me or annoy me.

I'm actually a big fan of Randy Pobst's videos with Motor Trend. The comparo he did of the Mustang GT and M3 ZCP was a good one because he immediately points out the differences, i.e. "you can't go full throttle through here [in this kind of corner] in the Mustang but you can in the M3".

The great thing about YouTube is that there are many offerings to pick from.

True, I like Drive's After Drive segment, where they break down races, news, etc. And Ride Apart. Chris Harris' vids are more about the experience--aural, and visual pleasures. Something I think he wasn't really allowed to do at Evo and Autocar.
I like Randy Pobst's vids as well, but with Motor Trend,I think Johnny Lieberman is a very annoying and lacks charisma.
