Help me decide between two e92 M3s

Hey guys,

I'm having difficulty weighing the pros and cons of an imminent e92 M3 purchase. Hopefully you can help point me in the right direction.

Car #1 - $42,000 - 2011(.5) Mineral White / Fox Red - ZCP, Prem, Nav - 59k miles

Car #2 - $42,000 - 2009 Alpine White / Fox Red - Prem, Conv, Nav - 19k miles

Both cars are similarly well maintained and do not have any red flags (clean Carfax and no "immediate" maintenance issues).

My question: Which car will be more desirable in 2 years? Or said more plainly, which car is the "better deal"?

Thanks for the advice!

I'd go for the 2011. The ZCP is too nice to pass up.
But, if neither has heated seats - fugetaboutem!

Tough choice. In the end I would go with Car #2 because of the mileage.

If the 09 has some sort of extended warranty I would go with that one... otherwise take the ZCP

Interesting that the low-mile car (#2) is getting the nod. My gut tells me that the 2011 ZCP, regardless of mileage, will be more desirable in 2+ years. Do miles really trump age?

It's tough out there. I need a car in 2-3 weeks time and my options are scarce. There are no 2011 36k-ish ZCPs to be found at or slightly below the $50k mark.

I'm leaning ZCP. It's a lease turn-in (imagine his mileage penalty lol) from a dealer I have solid relationships with.

I realize it remains under warranty; but, is it CPOed?

No warranty on either.

CPO and Extended warranties are available on the ZCP given the dealer relationship. They will come at a cost, although discounted.

Ooops, missed the mileage you had indicated. Now I see the out of warranty thing.

The CPO would, I think, be worth it. Mainly because the car would be put through some fitness requirements laid on by BMW itself. Once those requirements are met and the CPO is granted, it means BMW is willing to bet you the money you put up for the CPO that the cars major components will go trouble free (or relatively so) for the next 40k miles (or until 2017). Another way to look at it is, they have to trust the cars future performance as much as you do.

I'd go for the less miles option #2. All of your services are based on mileage. Less mileage means the major services are further into the future. Money saved in the short term. My 2 cents....

+1

I would have to say that it also depends how many miles you plan to put on it.

Send a message via MSN to NoM3ForMe
#2.

Less mileage > more options.

Took delivery late Saturday.

Thanks again for the input. Wouldn't have kept searching had it not been for this thread.
