Swapping to winter wheels

Just wanted to find out when people in the NoVA/central va region swap to their winter set up. It's getting so cold that I'm thinking sooner than early December as i had planned. Thanks for your input.

I've been putting it off, but I'm losing traction on the OEM's during the warm up process. I keep watching the forecast for snow!

Thanks guys. I finally have all the tools so I may do it this weekend. BTW, do you use TPMS in your winter set up? I didn't buy them when I bought my tires from Tire Rack, but now that my tires are mounted/balanced, I'm not sure I want to go through the hassle of putting them in.

No issues without TPMS. Error message pops up when starting the car but disappears after a couple seconds. Everything is still functional, you'll just have a light on your dash.

Waiting until it snows, then I will drive my truck. I only have summers and R comps.

Still waiting until the daily highs are consistently 55 or lower. 60 really seems to wear my snows fast, and we're having a lot of those days still.

Everything I've read so far suggests switching over to a snow tire (not all-season; there is a difference) when the weather is closer to 45 degrees or less [approx], and not necessarily when it starts to snow. So, maybe sometime in December. Remeber the tire compounds are different between performance, all-season, and snow tires. Handling of course is different among them for obvious reasons. I suppose putting them on now, depending on where you live, my be equated to pre-mature ejaculation.....in that, hopefully you'll eventually get there...just have patience.

When I had winter tires for my GTI I used to switch around Thanksgiving. Long weekend and usually was able to find the time and motivation to do it. Figured it was a great way to work off a few bites of mashed potatoes.
