Coworker said his G35S would beat my M3 on track

What do you say to that?

He said because he has manual and I have a DCT somehow he would beat me on the track, but I would beat him on the straight line. He previously told me that his bulbous looking sedan was designed to "compete with the M3, but miserably failed."

One of those comments where it's so retarded you just nod to it and pretend the conversation never happened.

Anyway I don't think there's any Infinity that stacks up, except maybe the M's.

There is zero comparison in any respect. Zero. I owned two G37S coupes before my 2 E92 M3's. The G37S would lose to a stock 335i on the track, let alone an M3. Just get some laptimes online to confirm and show the huge spread. Here's one comparision... M3 vs. G37S Fastlaps It is 7 seconds faster on a 1:35 track. That is MORE than a lifetime in the difference!!!

If it were me, I wouldn't even debate it with him because it is just a ridiculous assertion.

Pretty much common knowledge that dct slows you to sub-G35 pace through the turns.

My mother has a g35, I've driven it many times and I've had a 350z previously, there is no way, and I mean NO way it can hold a candle to my M3. Either in a straight line or otherwise. Tell your buddy you would like a hit of whatever he is smoking

You guys should sign up for 1-2 day HDPE course at a racetrack. By the time the day is over, not only will he realize his car is significantly slower, but there is a significant chance that his car might not be able to make it without some sort of issue, particularly if its hot. You see it happen all the time with VW's, Lexus (except IS) and Infinitis. The M3 fully stock is a 100% track-ready car.

The G35 was a nice car for its time and honestly it runs with the Honda S2000 and Nissan 350z. Not even in the same class.

Just think a used S2000 can be had for $8000.
