Limited performance upgrade budget
I'm looking to buy an E46 M3 to tide me over for a while until the initial M4 craziness dies down in a year or so. My E92 M3 lease is up end of Feb 2014 too. I've always wanted a track car, and I've always loved the E46. For now it needs to remain a street legal DD, but I figure I'd like to bring the performance up a notch.
If you had a budget of like $6k or so (maybe $7k if it's needed), what upgrades would you put on a bone stock manual E46 M3 coupe? Remember, it should be a DD-friendly car. When it comes to suspension, I don't mind a bumpier ride, but I don't really want to lower it much at all. The speed bumps, pot holes, and drainage bumps in LA aren't sports car friendly. Thanks! |

I would probably do some KW v2 coilovers, Status gruppe headers, Agency power section 1 w/ resonators, then look for a used section 2 and 3.
Then any of the bushings that might need to be replaced

Depending on the state of the car you could spend half that just refreshing it if it wasn't well looked after.
But if we assume it's in good shape on the budget is for performance upgrades I do: Ohilin R&T Suspension And save the rest of the cash until it becomes a track car and then put a half cage, seats, harnesses, etc. |

Maintenance items to make sure she is running great then... Quality set of coils, CSL carbon airbox, used Recaro lightweight seats, exhaust to fit your taste with cat removal.

"The Airbox" Maybe an exhaust system with 200 cell cats? Bilstein coilovers (I have them) and mods for faster shifting. That's really all I would do for performance upgrades.
