Adaptive wipers aren't so adaptive anymore

I've never been super satisfied with how the adaptive wipers work, but last week I noticed that in a very light drizzle, my wipers were on without delay at a light as if I'd turned them on with the column stick instead of the button. Anyone know what would cause this?

I think I've seen this reported before, and usually it means you need to give the windshield a good thorough cleaning. Sometimes some wax or tree sap or other contaminant gets on the windshield, and if the wipers aren't cleaning the windshield off well, the sensor thinks it needs to keep them going more than necessary. It might also be time to change your wiper blades if they are old, or a windshield cleaning doesn't do the trick.

Thanks. I'm due for a new windshield... wonder if that's it. Original glass after 50K miles and 20+ track days.

The condensation sensor could be flaking out. It's generally replaced when the windshield is replaced.
