Post like these that are directly in line with other credible sources I've come across confirm IMO the 5k mile change intervals. Everyone can take care of their car the way they want but I know what direction I'm going in since this car will stay with me for many years to come.

You should do your oil changes every 5000 miles.

5k is not necessary IMO. Waste of oil man. im good around 8k or 10k and i'm at 91,400 miles, still running like new.
