True, but not sure what you can do about the windshield. The front and rear fenders I cover with shelving paper if I'm not lazy. I'm usually too lazy to do it.
My problem with clear bra is- have you seen a beat up clear bra? Looks terrible. Thats a few hundred and the car looks worse now. You also need to change it out after 3-4 years or it's a nightmare to remove.

Yeah, I just watched some videos and it looks to be a PITA to apply and get right. Also, it will take 2-3 cans just to cover the hood and front bumper/fenders....that's $100! To me, the 3M Defender is more of a clear bra substitute, for those who may want to leave it on for a year.

What I'm looking for is temporary track day protection:
1. Something that shoots out of a can
2. Don't care if it is opaque/semi ugly
3. Goes on fast, no surface prep, extensive masking required, etc.
4. Is inexpensive
5. Tears off quick
6. Is good for a single event/weekend

Does this product exist?

Me too, but haven't read good reviews on the Defender yet, so I'm not touching it for a while.
I still have to see that new ride of yours.

I had Llumar clear bra installed on the windshield for $120. I'll probably change this out once a year.

Rest of the car has Xpel clear bra and, I'm hoping that, with its "self-healing" properties, it'll resist getting beat up. *fingers crossed*

Look at TrakTape. "Inexpensive" is relative.

Just tried it out on my rocker panels and waiting for it to cure. I didn't wax the panels, just cleaned it with some detail spray. It was pretty easy to put on (I also bought the applicator handle).

Hood bulge. Don't forget that. My car (bought used) had some chips on the leading slope of it. Maybe that's a good excuse to just get a CF hood.

I had XPel paint protection film applied to the front bumper cover and the leading edge of the hood, but not as far back as the bulge. Also, the backs of the side mirrors. Then, I had the panels done behind the rear wheels (rocker panels?). To have a skilled installer do it all was about $1k.

It needs to have sealant applied every couple months, and there's a special cleaner for when it gets dirty (which needs to be immediately followed by more sealant). It's not supposed to yellow or get cloudy, if you keep up on the maintenance.

I'd only apply it to key locations, and only if you're expecting to sell the car while it's still new enough that paint condition actually matters. Besides cost, don't forget that this stuff adds weight.

Yes. Yes I have.

Results: It works great. However, you need to apply it in a very thick coat or it is a b.i.t.c.h. to remove. Thick applications peel right off. Thin. You are screwed and will be hating life for a while...

However, this stuff is not only rock resistant, it is jack rabbit bolting across I-10 when you are at 85 mph resistant. The lower grill of an E90? Not so much...

I used a foam roller to apply it. I had a 'frozen red' M3 AND no rock chips.

Pretty good actually. The stuff went on pretty smoothly, and stuck properly (all I did is clean the panels with some detail spray, no other preparation). It's very clear, and seems pretty tough. I won't be at the track again for a couple weeks, but so far i'm happy with the product. I found it easy to apply evenly with the applicator spray handle.

I don't have another track day till the long weekend, but i'll report back on how effective it is.
might have to try that out. Also, Taz from the UK plasti-dipped his car in areas that would get alot of rock chips, trying to find a picture
