Turn2 at ORP was amazing this past weekend. Clockwise on Saturday, counterclockwise on Sunday. My first time there, and it's a very technical and rewarding track.. even moreso when you remove being able to use brake markers when running in reverse direction.

Tom ran a great event, no incidents, great track, friends, and memories. Expect some pics will show up here son. My cam was not working well.

I have to agree with Larry. It was a phenomenal weekend: Awesome track, light traffic, good friends to play with and perfect weather. Can't wait to go back next year!

Here a couple of videos. First one is from inside the car and the other one is playing with some friends in a GT3RS and e92 M3.

Enjoy!

Nicely done - I really must get to ORP one of these days! When are you heading down to laguna seca?

Here's my latest attempt at the Ridge. This was taken back on June 29th. Here you'll see me chasing and trying to keep up with a Z06 but a slower red car (BRZ I think) got in the way.

The best time I did was a 1:57

Leaving Friday 8/16. Will try to hit RM Auction on Sat night and Historics on Sunday before Oktoberfest starts on Monday. Track days are Wed/Thur/Friday!

BTW, nice video from the Ridge

The Oregon PCA has a two day event at ORP coming up July 27, 28. Standard HPDE on Saturday and open lapping on Sunday! I am thinking I will make it out Sunday. I am planning to have the new side exhaust finished for this event. I hope it sounds good as it is going to be loud!

I just got conformation that they will run clockwise on Saturday and counterclockwise on Sunday. This is a great opportunity to run the two best tracks in the northwest!

Interesting shift points Nicolas. You are very smooth. I don't shift nearly as much. Nice job capturing me in this video too! Can't wait to give the track a 2nd try, now that I know where to go.

Next stop: Laguna Seca!!

I wanted to go down but the E46 M3 almost certainly will not make sound. Plus the Golden Gate CCA is running the HPDE.......I would rather not run with them again. A CCA race would have been nice but that is another story. Have great time provide a nice write up with pictures!

The level of smoothness and minimal inputs in this video puts me to shame. What is this, a sunday drive?

How was the 26th?

My days are few and far between right now but I just signed up for the BMWCCA Sept 6th day and I'm debating between Sept 13th and 25th for a second date in September. I really wanted to get a BBK for that month but it's just not in the cards this year.

Thanks, ha ha trust me even though I look all calm, inside I'm all panicky!!

Its all just a matter of practice and seat time, you'll get there too!

the 26th was a bit so-so, for some reason I was dead tired that day so I was pretty beat up by the afternoon and had to leave early. Couldn't get below a 1:58 however my NT01s are also pretty shot now (8 days on them) and I think with a fresh set of BFG R1 I can dip into the 1:55-56 range.

I ran a few 2:05 and 2:04 runs on Friday.... On street tires (Hankook rs3's) and race brake pads (stock calipers/rotors). I know I could go deeper into the braking zones before scrubbing speed which would bring that lap time down...also could take a few of the sweepers faster than I was doing on Friday. I think this could bring me down 3-5 seconds if I really pushed it and drove a solid line.

But the question is how much would a set of r-comp tires bring down my overall lap times? (on average) 4-5 seconds? More, less? Curious what folks have experienced when finally making the switch to a dedicated r-comp track only tire. I think I'm about ready to make the switch when these are worn out.

Less. Probably more like 2 seconds

yep 2 seconds... remember its a slippery slope though. once you get to r-comps you never want to go back to street tires... Its like an addiction with no cure.

Its different I feel also. It may take a good amount of time to be able to really get to the limit of the new tires. I've experimented quite a bit exceeding the limit and working the nt01s to find the proper way to use them. They won't give you audible warning your perspective out the front window will just change so be careful. Race seat will help connect you.

Makes sense, thanks guys. The lack of an audible warning is worrisome. I like being able to hear a little squeal when they are approaching the limit.

Btw - the rs3's got pretty greasy towards the latter (warmer part of the day). But I always felt in control...just a bit slippery when they got overheated.

I'm in the same spot as you (I'm on NT 05) and decided I want a BBK before R-comps, which will happen next year for me. I also have about 6 days of tread left for now but next year I'm thinking strongly about jumping on the NT01 bandwagon.
