Problem with bluetooth not connecting...

I have an 08 M3 with CCC navigation and bluetooth, and use an iphone 4s.
In the past several months, increasingly, the phone fails to connect.

More specifically, it will connect from a cold engine start. however, if the call is dropped or frequent calls are made, it will not silence the radio and the call will not come through on the speaker. I also cannot select the iphone or speakerphone through the Iphone screen.

Furthermore, while the call shows that it is going through on the nav screen, the recipient of the call receives the call but cannot hear anything.

Thoughts? Is this an iphone, bluetooth or ccc problem? Would upgrading to CIC help this?

Thanks in advance.
Neel

The CCC and CIC give a user interface for the Bluetooth but the Bluetooth functionality is provided by a different module (TCU or MULF). If you upgrade to the CIC you should also upgrade to the Combox. This will guarantee your Bluetooth hands free calling will work fine and you will gain additional Bluetooth features like audio streaming.

Exact same issue

I have the exact same issue --- same MY, same iPhone. I don't have any advice but can share in the frustration.

I was having the same problem but with iPhone 5. I found out that my Microsoft Outlook and Lync along with Exchange were duplicating contacts. This made the car go crazy trying to transfer contacts to the car, and this made the system decide to drop bluetooth.
First I decided to change setting on the iPhone to not transfer contacts. This fixed the problem.
But since I did want my contacts in the car I deleted all duplicated contacts manually on the iPhone and this fixed the problem definitely.

interesting. i don't have duplicate contacts though. I will have to see if deleting and trying again helps. Some I have talked to have mentioned doing a battery reset.

Just in case try the following on your iPhone:
Settings
Bluetooth
Chose your car ej. BMW XXXX (right arrow)
Turn off Sync Contacts

If contacts are the problem that will solve it until you delete duplicates
To see if you have duplicates go to:
Contacts
Groups (top left corner)
Choose Show all contacts

Then you can see if you have duplicates

If you have too many contacts that may also be the problem

Interesting, I think I may have too many contacts. I did remove the facebook link and will try this again.
I did not have any duplicates though.
Sigh, i hope it works as I do spend a lot of time in NYC traffic and make use of my phone for work.

Having too many contacts may also be an issue. Let us know if you solve the problem.

I think you may have done it. I deleted about 25 contacts, and also shut off facebook from linking to my contacts (funny how that thing snuck in there).

I also deleted and re-paired my phone. I made 4 calls which would have normally caused a problem, but it went without a hitch! Saved me from having to upgrade the entire NAV/bluetooth system which works fine for me.

Genius--thank you!
