Question about the process from production to completion date...

Car went into production yesterday, and I just called the automated number and it told me the estimated completion is June 29th:

1) does that date seem "too good to be true" or are he estimated dates pretty accurate?

2) if the car is supposed to be completed next week, does it just sit around for weeks for other cars to be done and shipped from Europe?

This is the first BMW I've ever built so obviously new to this whole process. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Estimated dates are not too accurate from my experience. I was told the usual 8 weeks and I received mine in 5.5 weeks. I couldnt believe how fast I received it. Its also gonna depend on the ship that its scheduled to board. If its not at the docks, your car will sit for awhile. My guess is that since your car was scheduled to be built yesterday, and you live all the way in California, you'll see your car in 3 weeks.

Wow! That would be insane....Monday I'm randomly cruising Bimmerfest forum, next thing I know, Tuesday I have an M3 on order and Wednesday it started production.

Not sure of final cutoff but I think E92 coupe production comes to an end at the end of June and the cabriolet will be sometime in July. After that they have to convert the line for the new F series.

No. It does sit until there are enough cars to fill a ship, but that's usually days. Ships normally contain more brands than just BMWs so it fills up pretty fast.

Sweet! Thanks. I thought maybe I had time to order up a fresh batch of HREs and get them here before the car arrived...apparently not.
