Definitely runs smoother now. This V2 tune is not supposed to increase HP when compared to V1 but I'm curious if upgrading to 240E gave me any ponies. Was doing 377whp (std) with the OE 190E (along with mods in signature). Will take the car to the dyno soon to find out.

I would definitely recommend to ESS customers with the DirectFlash tool to upgrade to the E-Flash cable.

E-DCT was released this week, a means of allowing home users the ability to load ESS performance tunes for DCT-equipped M3s.

ESS's optimized DCT transmission software and increases shift firmness in S4/5/6 while providing a vast overall improvement in transmission speed.

Same cable can be used for both E-Flash and E-DCT, requiring no additional hardware.

Tom, are you guys able to unlock the cables that have already been used to tune the ECU?

The same cable can be used for both E-Flash and E-DCT - no additional hardware is needed.

Once used, the cable (whether E-Flash or E-DCT) is locked to that specific VIN.

Sorry, but this is incorrect. ESS already told me that the cable needs to be unlocked to code the transmission vs ECU. They attempted to unlock mine 3 times yesterday and were finally "successful" on the 4th to which I got an error message from the program when attempting to communicate with the car. I have had my software since Tuesday and I am still unable to load it.

Without knowing the details your particular situation, it's hard to offer support. A few others have already applied the DCT tunes successfully, including Roman on his own LRM3. He should be able to chime in on his experience.

We will be applying the ESS DCT software on our M3 as soon as time frees up, possibly tomorrow.

I'm not as concerned with the issues, but ESS confirmed that they need to unlock a cable if it was used to tune the ECU as mine was with my SC tune.

If a customer has an exisiting E-Flash that he/she wants to use on the DCT it will need to be setup "remotely" to work. Due to AJ having issues / delays in his travel this week he has had limited access to work on updating cables but will be available again tomorrow. Once he is back online im sure he will get your issue resolved.

No difference.

The software suites do expire after some time (executable program, not the flash tune) so it's good to always download the new version just to have it handy, even if not needed.

I just brought a 2011 E92 M3, I would like to get both tune and DCT. What's the deal on that? I don't need to get two different cables right? Thank you.

You can have your original file adjusted to have servo calibration changes. PM me if you need details.

"What if I plan on changing my current configuration at a later date? How much does this cost?
If you have a desired hardware configuration to be set at a later date, include this info with your initial file request and an additional file will be provided if there is a file required for the change. If the request is provided at a later date, there is a service fee charged for file modification. "

If I don't know which rout I'm going
(Didn't pick exhaust yet,pulley ,filter)

Than what?!

You do not need to alter our NA files for most bolt on mods like filters, pulleys etc.. Our NA tune also does not require a change for most exhaust systems. If you have questions on specifics you can always email me direct roman@esstuning.com at anytime.
