I know this is a stretch, but hey, a guy can dream. Miles will matter as I am not looking to buy *too much* of a money pit. I have browsed through all the current listings and have not found a doable deal. PM or post, thanks for the consideration.

UPDATE: I purchased another member's car

JMO but don't do it. I could get it if your budget was in the low 20s, but if you're at 35 you are close enough to get a nicer car that's not been salvaged. Salvage is risky for 2 reasons; 1 is you never know for sure if the issue(s) were corrected. The second is, you may not be able to sell it, regardless of the price.

If I were you I'd save up a little bit more. If you can push that budget even $3k there are plenty of '08 M options that are in decent shape that open up to you.

Good luck!

I just fear that I am going to get an M and then all of a sudden have a $5,000 maintenance bill out of nowhere. Maybe I have more reading to do and this isn't the case... there is a local one for sale for $38,000 with 40,000 miles and it is certainly tantalizing.

Gotcha. The maintenance can be costly once warranty is out so I get your situation. I was just agreeing with the other guy to stay away from the salvage titled ones. You could run into major expenses on top of potential maintenance expenses.

I agree...135 is a fine car and you can get a very nice example with your budget.

Good luck, but you're not going to find one with an extended warranty much under $40k.

I am going to bump this because I am once again considering the M. The only thing I am set on is the 6MT/E92 and any exterior color except black. PM me if you think we can discuss.

Honestly, it sounds like this isn't the time to purchase an e92. Finances have to be in order.

^ what he said. If you are looking for a budget M3, you better have money to pay for the maintenance that might pop up.

I have the money stashed for an extended warranty and/or a major repair bill. My real decision to make was whether I wanted to spend the extra $10,000 it will cost to own the M over a 135, and I think I would kick myself if I didn't. This is probably the only time in my life I'll be able to get away with a reckless spending decision and a V8 coupe before I have family and life responsibilities. Also, correct me if I am wrong, the E92 will hold more residual value than the 135i will, thus it is possible that it will be a better "investment."

I have been getting butterflies just thinking about owning the M!

Bump.

I am going up to New York to see this M3, but the low price and the fact that it is at a Suzuki dealer makes me tentative.
