Rolex 50th Anniversary Daytona

Now this is a gorgeous piece

http://www.watchtime.com/wristwatch-...releases-50t/#

Solid platinum oyster case and platinum band.

The dial colour is just fantastic. I cant believe how nice it looks with the coloured bezel.

No wonder its friggin $75k.

Gorgeous..... I've always wanted a daytona but also admire the speedmaster from omega as an alternative.

Wow! I may have to see about adding this to my collection.
I have a white and a black face Daytona SS already.
Sweet looking watch.

Is a stellar looking watch but would rather have a used gt3 for the price.

I agree on that point.

I'd perfer the meteorite dial with a leather strap and save $60k or there abouts.

But not looking at the price it really is just a fantastic package.

The platinum would make the watch weigh a friggin' ton on the wrist.

Doesn't do a thing for me, but I love the steel Daytonas. I can't imagine paying that much for a Rolex when you could have bought a PP, VC, RM, A Lange or similar. But I'm sure they'll sell plenty of them.

Have to agree with Red Bread,
I have a GMT II and Explorer II and as investments the initial outlay 5 years ago to there value now is nearly double, laying out that sort of money on a watch is just crazy but then if you can and you want then you will!

Regards.

yeah, great watch but... dude that's a car! (and a good one)

any watch that approaches 10k already gets the point across. after that it's just an arms race between rich people.

precious metals in watches is a no no, unless there isn't an alternative opiton.

that being said, this will be one of few precious metal watches that have stainless alternatives that will go up in value...

precious metal watches on things like patek and etc, that's a different story.

I'd love a PP too and I agree Rolex prices have risen out of reach of old Rolex pricing. The new Explorer is a ton of cash. It has the new Parachrome hairspring but its still way too much. Its as much now as my old Submariner was.

If I spent big money I'd get a PP. The watch is timeless.

To me the Daytona is one watch that looks great in pics but is nothing special in the flesh.
I would rather have a speedy pro and I do!

Just had this on my wrist a few minutes ago. It is SO heavy compared to my SS Daytona! Solid platinum is unreal and the colors look stunning in real life. The blue face is much more subtle too.

The store I get most of my jewlery and watches from has sold two of them already. They didn't think it would be a good seller since it's so much money, but it is in very high demand.

I'll let my sales guy know they are still out there. It's weird that it'd be sitting in Cali. I would have thought it would move a bit quicker out there.

BTW all: I went to an invite only Rolex party last night and had a chance to talk to the area rep for quite a while. We basically spoke about Rolex and racing the entire time. Lots of fun! They gave us all a copy of the Rolex Magazine Issue #1. It's essentially all about the Daytona!

Also, if you have an ipad, download the Rolex Daytona app. It's fantastic!!!

The watch is gorgeous. I'm a fool for fine watches, but at $75k, not that much of a fool.
