It's for the debadged 328s thinking their car is an M...no one would ever put that on a Real M
I'm amused that a lot of folks here would probably beat each other up to be the first to get DTM angel eyes on their M3 but they think these stripes are just poseur stripes.

Various M stripe iterations have been historically found on BMW's safety cars, DTM cars, F1 cars, and other track cars including the Ring Taxi. These are your E9x M3's true roots. BMW puts them on their "Real" M cars.

These stripes are definitely not for everyone, myself included, but BMW sure does use them a lot.

BMW north Scottsdale had an m3 done up like that... Hideous. Terrible, IMHO.

+1. I am amused as well that people do all sorts of tacky stuff to their cars in the name of "moding", yet they have no issues criticizing others who don't agree with their sense of "style." So, how many HPs did the after-market angel-eyes or painted brake calipers add? Probably, exactly the same amount as these stripes.

Personally, I wouldn't do any of them (after-market angel eyes or the stripes), but what people do to their cars (within reason) is their own business.

Some posters here are obviously unaware of the E36 M3 Lightweight, which used similar striping from the factory. And yes, it was only offered in white.

Personally, I don't like it. I'd prefer if BMW kept the exclusivity factor and only put the stripes on special race-prepped models.

What's the consensus on the front/rear M flags? I think it could look pretty good, anyone got pics of it?

Modifying the temp of your AE's and/or adding painted calipers with a brake upgrade is not the same as beating onlookers over the head with a rainbow M stripe down the side of your car.

I also think the consensus among the community, and lets be honest, who really cares what the average motorist really thinks, is that both mods can be tasteful.

I did something simular to my E92 last year just before I took her to Targa Newfoundland

Once I got home I removed everything back to normal. It was just a tad flashy for me

As I said, the decals are not my cup of tea, but what's "tasteful" is subjective. You may think (and I would agree) that the painted calipers are more tasteful than the decals, but it remains subjective. Neither your opinion nor my opinion carries more weight than those who believe the decals look nice.

The objective measurement is that neither adds any power or driving enhancements.

I'm putting these on! Makes the car stand out since no one likes them. I like being different! Besides that, I got to HP to back my racing stripes.
