I wonder if all the iDrive controllers are the same. I mean, they look the same to me.

As stated before, tell that to your dealer, please. He will tell you the latest P/N based on either of those P/N.

My research

I have a 04/08 build date, so I assume I've received the updated software. The controller I'm using is 65829231116. According to past posts, the majority of folks who has success in this has at least a 03/08 build date (or has updated software) and has controller -309, which explains why Tischer shows -048 on the order sheet and customers received -309 or other updated part numbers.

RealOEM shows this as the part update for the CIC controller:

No. Description Qty From Up To Part Number Notes
01 Controller 1 09/2008 03/2009 65829189048 ENDED
01 Controller 1 09/2008 09/2009 65829213309 ENDED
01 Controller 1 09/2008 03/2010 65829205177 ENDED
01 Controller 1 09/2008 09/2010 65829231116 ENDED
01 Controller 1 09/2008 03/2011 65829240956
01 Controller 1 09/2008 07/2012 65829249439
01 Controller 1 09/2008 65829285443

Notes: Ended = The part has been discontinued.

Okay guys,

Well, my tuner just outside Toronto, Ontario tells me that Autologic has dropped the CIC upgrade feature so they cannot do it. Again, my car is ESS supercharged, so I can't just take it in to the dealer to get the update.

I have all the parts just waiting, any other options to get this installed?

Anyone out there in the Toronto area that can do this, or can this even be done remotely with minimal risk to my I-Drive system?

I think a full cic retrofit would be the solution. Will let someone else chime in with a better solution. Have you tried contacting a remote coder, like Benvo?

In reality this will work for all 2007-2008 E9X M3s with updated coding.

I know this is known but just wanted to remind folks this. Regardless of month/year build both of those years WILL ACCEPT the new CIC idrive controller WITH updated coding.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem as you. Everything else works except the scrolling part. Have u fixed that problem yet? If not maybe we can explore a way together.

Everything else works.
Can anybody please enlighten me on this matter?
Is there anyway you can code it or something to make it work?

Version info that I can see are the following off the idrive.

Navi ver.02.00

Map ver.4.40

APL ver.02.00

KERNEL ver.00.40.00

CNS2 ver.02.17.00

MOST ver.02.01.00

I read that Voice Control no longer works for some older e9x non-m cars, can anyone confirm if this is the case for '08 Ms after the CIC controller upgrade?

Voice control still works after the controller swap. It is the CCC to CIC unit swap that requires new FSC for the CIC voice control.
