Technic,

I'm trying to build a 2013 M3 Coupe. How do I choose the Logic7/688 option without the intervention of BMW Individual and with it not listed as a option on the mybmw build site? Thanks for the help.

Lots of dealers are stunned by the amount of knowege that can be learned through this forum. Hang out here for a while an you will know as much or more than the CA and rest of the dealer staff. This community is an amazing resource

Question- Why do dealerships want to run my credit before the car is even delivered? Isnt the deposit good enough? I remember when my dad ordered his 3 series, it came in 8 weeks later and was missing the premium sound, he was pretty heated and decided not to get the car, and the credit check by BMW left an impression on his score. Is there any way around this?

No. They don't want to waste time with transactions that have no chance of being finished. By agreeing to order a car, they are accepting a degree of risk already (like orders being canceled, etc.)

They need to minimize their overall risk of exposure. Would be a pretty stupid problem to have to deal with a custom built car for a customer who turns out has no way of affording the car.

This includes people paying cash for their car. My dealer took a $1000 deposit and ran a credit check, even though I was writing a personal check for the balance of the car.

It's not a big deal. People act like a single credit check is going to destroy your credit score. It will affect your score, but it's not going to drop you 100 points overnight either.

alee0729 - I completely agree with what your saying 100%. I called BMWF and they told me itll drop my credit 8-10 points since BMWF already ran my credit 4 months ago when I was considering buying a 335is. The only reason Im concerned is because my credit score is at 705 which is borderline of Tier 1 and Tier 2 credit, Tier 2 is anything below 700. So I figured I would try to build my credit as much as I could in the 8-11 weeks it takes for the car to come in, you know?
