Buy a new one, 0% APR, full warranty and service pack. It makes sense

Here's my tussle with a 335d. The driver of the 335d was certainly trying his best, but you can see that the added torque gives no advantage when the M3 is in the right gear; also, you can see the relative difference in stability through the corners - the 335d is wagging its tail, still a great performance car though.

Forward to 3m54s.

The one I have my eye on has the full warranty and service pack and half the price of a new one
Can`t justify having a new car and not using it daily, ideally I`m going to keep it for weekends and sunny days!!!

Can I ask how you're finding the ride comfort compared to your E90?

I am considering replacements for our E89 Z4, the requirements from the other half being that I need to have back seats, but for me I want petrol, daily drivability (auto box for commute and reasonable comfort) and something that will be ok for few track days per year. Considering an E90 335i, E90 M3 or M135i

My concern over M3 is fuel cost, but at least I can quantify that quite objectively, but the other side is E90 ride comfort is crap. However, my experience is with Run flats on a 330d, so curious as to how an M3 compares to a normal E90 on runflats?

E90 M3 on comfort setting (EDC) is very good , normal is firm and sport is even firmer !

if your concern re: fuel cost the V8 M3 is not for you

I agree with these comments.
The M3 can be driven in relative comfort on a daily basis.
I went from 18"to 19" wheels an to be honest not a noticeable difference really.
As for fuel consumption well if you gotta ask you can't afford it !!! As they say!
Driven lightly you can nearly be economical, put the foot down and it passes everything but a petrol station !!!!

Relative to what though?! How does it compare to say a standard MSport E90? Does the lack of Runflats make up for the stiffer overall set up?

Indeed, but I have that reasonably well factored in. I reckon it will cost me about 1000 more a year to fuel over 10-12k miles than the Z4. I'm ok with that.

Thanks for the replies though guys.

I disagree , tuned ones are 380 bhp and 730nM torque. 1/4 mile sub 13's , you can feel the chassis flex there is that much grunt. Out drag RS6 v10's RS4's . M3,5's yet docile round town and returning 35+mpg. For the price of a decent M3 Exhaust system you can pretty much M3 up the 35d.

It IS a performance car that's easy on the wallet . .. having said that , it's still not an M3.. The M3 is a benchmark

Performance has more aspects than straight line. Take it on the track against those cars and that added power isn't gonna make things any better for it.

What tune would that be? I have an x5d I would like to get some more out of.

Theres the problem .. you spend 99.8% of your life on the road, not the track.

With the extra money you'd save in fuelling the D , you could hire an M3 for the day every 6 months , you could kick the crap out of it and hand it back guilt free

To get the D to sing you'll have to go down the DPF bypass route . Straight remap will get you 330 , add the extra 50 if you bypass the DPF. Not exactly legal in the UK anymore sadly

If the 35d came with a LSD , then it'd be a different story !

TBH his lines were awful and I think a good driver in that 335 and you would have had your hands full! ultimately he would have beaten you because you would have had to refuel while he carried on.
