My 991S with some options was $170,000, just called the Porsche dealer and the GT3 will be around $230,000, I'm really happy with my new car, it turns like a go kart, and it's pretty fast, but what I like more is that I can use it as my DD without a problem, it won't scrape where my M did, I can go anywhere without having to worry about my car, and it's beatiful and plenty fast, maybe I'll consider the Turbo, but the GT3 is more of a track oriented car, would not be as enjoyable as a DD as my 991 S

Track their car, or race it in a racing series? If they just do lapping times, then again, who cares about the lap time numbers?

No interest from me at all. I'm looking for a great .2 gt3 or .2 RS 3.8. Saw a RS 4.0, but you just know that the owner won't sell or will ask for way too much of it. If I get either car, I'll just sell the e63 for a lexus IS250 or infiniti g for a work car. Hell, I'd be ok with a camry if I had the best street 911 and one of the best track gt3 cars. I have no interest in any 991 cars. I hate the long wheel base and gt car dimensions. The 991 was clearly built for softies who couldn't handle the 997.2 suspension and now can cruise and pose in comfort.

I'm very excited about the new car, have been waiting for more details for quite some time and I think I'm gonna sell my r8 for one real soon
Hans would prefer his name spelled correctly.

I havent heard anything absolutely definitive for the delivery dates. Sounds like end of year likely Nov/Dec for early allotments. Since I plan to do Euro Delivery the dealer may bump me so I can have mine ready for next march. I am sure once the order books officially open in a couple of months, we will hear more. Since I am in Canada, not sure if US will get at same time or earlier.

I went the .2 GT3RS route and have been very happy. Do not like the inability to put an 18" wheel on the 991S or GT3. I would have been fine with PDK as I had DCT on my M3, but after 6 months with the RS I am having fun with the manual.

IMO these developments are more about the dramatic economic shift than anything else. Ferrari and Porsche (at their highest end, like the GT series) cater to their *new* car buyers. These cars are getting more and more expensive (very successfully so I might add) and are being sold into a pretty rarified demographic (multi-millionaires)

The fact is that the new car buyers of Lambo, Ferrari, Aston, top end Porsche, etc want performance *and* convenience. They don't care about or even really look at the GTR honestly. Look, I owned one and liked it well enough, but Nissan barely sells any. It is only a "threat" to Porsche in the bench racing contests of forums, among 19 year olds with no money and a dream, and in the motoring press.

At the end of the day Porsche and Ferrari arent losing GT3 and 458 sales to a Nissan! LOL But their buyers *do* want that same blend of "ring king" performance *and* "drive to the beach house with the mistress in tow" convenience.

That's why we are seeing these developments. For people who want to "stay simple" there are always the used cars. Progress marches on. For every person who feels that the "997 was perfect" there are 10 that would argue that the 997 is "too much BS" and that the 993 was perfect, or the 964, or the 911... On and on. That never ends and is generational. In the meantime the high-end marques need to worry about the guys writing $200k checks.

If those guys were saying "no manual trans and a piped in soundtrack?!?!?! SCREW YOU!", then it would change. But they're not. They're snapping these up. Sales #s don't lie and Porsche and BMW (and even Ferrari) are setting *records* with incomprehensibly expensive cars in the *worst economy in 60 years*. That should tell you something.
