Replacement For Oem Top Mount Stud (front)

Anyone know where I can purchase an OEM top mount stud for the front part of the suspension? The last time I checked at a bmw dealership, they sell the mount as a whole which is $200+. I checked in a couple hardware stores and none of them carry anything similar. If you guys have an extra one lying around or know an alternative to replacing the stud, pls pm me or email me at kkng@live.ca Thanks!

If you have the mount out of the car, you can tack weld a bolt and make it work.

That is what I would do -- tack weld a bolt. If you can find an old mount, you can try to salvage the stud. They are probably press fit. Might not even have to be an E9X mount you salvage from.

You could also use a bolt without tack welding, provided you can get to the bottom of it to hold it in place while you tighten the top.

Isn't the stock top plate aluminum? There's no way to hold a bolt from the bottom when you tighten a nut on the top.

Word. I sheared a bolt and had to order a new top mount. $120.00 some odd bones. It's a do it yourself if you are comfortable with spring compressors. I am not.

You can replace just the stud. I watched a BMW master tech do it...he overtorqued mine and snapped one. I would go to Fastenal and see if they have something that will work.
