I will be in San Diego and drive to LA from April 20th-26th

Reason for trip: a week vacation with 2 best friends(3 guys including me)
What is there to do, must check out, I lived in La Habra back in 1994-96, but kinda forgot it all since I didn't drive at the time.
Any suggestions would be great...food truck meet...touristic must see or to avoid...
I am doing online searches, but it's always better to ask locals, hence why I am posting here.
Thank in advance fellas!

what are you driving, M3? if yes then hit up the Calabasas/Malibu canyons for a drive once you get to LA. Weekday is better then weekend.

I wish I had my car there, I'm flying into San Diego. So I will possibly be driving a rental focus or something along that line! LOL any good road to take a econo box to!

There's always tons of stuff going on in LA. Are you looking for fun stuff in general? Food? Driving?

For car stuff, checkout Cars and Coffee in Irvine on Saturday mornings.

For other up and coming local events, start checking out some local websites with whats going on closer to your trip:

Thanks! Any mid week meets? I land on saturday in SD and will probably hang out in SD for 2-3 days then be in LA tuesday till friday.

FOOD will be one of the main thing, popular attractions or hangout spots, dont think we will do the parks(disneyland, universal..) I would love to check out the awesome food places as seen on TV(andrew zimmers, anthony bourdain, street eats...those TV shows)

Check out the Tap Room if you make it to Pacific Beach. Excellent selection of beers, and try the meatball pizza.

Since you mentioned food, there was this thread
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=808046

You could try hiking to the hollywood sign and maybe lacma as some touristy things to do.

PB is a dump for young kids. You can do better. Depends on your age and what you want though. If you're 25+ or a professional I'd suggest avoid.

firstkill: I live about 45 minutes from the beach, therefore beach isn't going to be something that I am looking to spend too much time checking out. We haven't figure out where to stay yet. We not looking on breaking the bank at a nice hotel since we will be spending most of our time out.

spr: My friend's and I are 32yrs old, we are pretty mature, but still are able to enjoy a few drinks! I guess leaning towards the professional side!

San Diego is an outdoor city, from shopping to beaches.

Just hang out in downtown if you don't care for the above, Gas Lamp District. Many restaurants around there and its where the night life is.

Balbo Park in the day is the museum/park but im not sure what 3 guys would do there.

Los Angeles is a big city,

roof top bars, standard maybe perch
regular bars Edison

tons of clubs and restaurants

If you guys don't mind waking up early and driving
id spend 2 days in San Diego, drive to vegas 5hrs 2 nights vegas and 2 days LA

You'll like downtown for nightlife and resturants. You can hit up La Jolla, Coronado, Encinitas during the day.
