2008 e92 need rotors and pads

For the 42k service, any less expensive options? Got a quote for 1900 in parts alone.

If you want OEM, BMW of Silverspring formerly Tischer getbmwparts.com is much less than that.

$1900 seems high. I helped my friend replace his front rotors, pads and sensors last Saturday. He got the parts from Getbmwparts.com I think he paid around $850.00. He was going to get them from Tirerack, but they were around $100.00 more.

Was this a dealer who gave this quote and was it for both front/rear pads and rotors?

Many dealers will quote you MSRP for parts only and then discount it somewhat if you want them to do the work (although still cheaper to DIY). You may want to call the parts counter directly and see what price they give you or check online at getbmwparts.com.

At 42k, do you really need new rear rotors and pads? You can easily check it yourself.

Racing brake sells replacement rotors for our cars. Cheaper than oem and just as good

They also have a promotion right now. I just picked up rear rotors and sensors.

Also try thebmwpartstore.com. They have increased their shipping rates somewhat but may still be less than getbmwparts.com.

agreed, likely pad changes are necessary, but all depends on how aggressively the brakes were used in 42k. I would get a up close inspection on rotor before swapping them. The rotors are the real cost driver in your quote.

I also have a set of front rotors and full set of pads for sale. I would check the rotor thickness. My guess is they are fine. You can run a dozen set of pads thru a set of rotors at least on the track.
