Update to "We Need No Stinkin' Badges".

The car is in the body shop for some minor repairs. While it is there the rear BMW badge is coming off the trunk lid.

1. Individuals who so desperately aspire to attain a simple material possession that they will slap a sticker or a badge in the hopes of attaining self-fulfillment at the expense of one's own dignity.

2. Individuals who have the real thing and (i) believe that this is a source of pride and (ii) believe that having the real thing is the correct path to self-actualization (i.e. those who look down on Individual 1 because they have the real thing and believe they are entitled to judgment based on this fact alone).

What unites both of these deplorable types of individuals is that they are slaves to the badge and to the marketing. And that, above all, is very sad - the would go for an "M" badge regardless of the merit of the vehicle. I claim that neither are true enthusiasts (one a poser, one a loser). Those who take pleasure in the vehicle itself and equate greatness with their own objective analysis, those are the true enthusiasts (like many who contribute to these forums).
well stated. Love the Maslow reference

Relax, it's funny. If you've got a problem, move along.

Anyway, here's my contribution... I saw this tastefully modded E60 550i a few blocks north of the Javits Center during the NYC Auto Show.

I Absolutely Love This Thread!!!

This is great!!! SO funny. I love the pics.

When I see this sort of thing, I don't laugh because I think I'm better than they are. I laugh because I see someone trying to be something they are not. I would (and do) laugh just as much when I see Honda racing stickers on a Toyota, or anything of that sort.

I don't get why people do that. Be proud of what you drive. Besides its all the more fun when my full bolt on, JB4, and meth 335i shows M3's its tail lights lol. Everyone enjoy your cars.

Wife snapped this during lunch. There's another emblem above the driver's side wheel arch... Not the most offensive, but still...
