rear headrest removal

Hey guys,

I can't figure out how to remove the rear center headrest in the E90. Does anyone have any pics or tips of removal? I got the impression that it was easily removed by pulling it up, but apparently there must be some bolt that's holding it in place.

Surprised no one chimed in yet. Pull it up until it reaches its maximum point. Then at the base of the headrest that's attached to the seat, you'll see a sort of notched plastic piece that you push in while removing the headrest.

Similar to the piece to the bottom right seen here:

If they are active head restraints there may be another procedure to remove them. But I'd guess that the rears are not AHR's.

I press that button at the base of the metal piece that's plastic. Then pull simultaneously, but yeah... pretty hard the first time.

He said REAR not fronts!

I can't get my rear center headrest off either even though my owner's manual says you can remove it, just not height adjustable.

Got it out tonight

Best way is to just pop the plastic trim ring off the passenger side, then release the C-clip and you can pull it off easily.

Wear a paintball mask and you'll be fine.
