New order for M3 - Need suggestions
Hi All,
I ordered my BMW M3 MW on February 27th. My dealer said I can change till March 4th and then its get locked. They ran my credit check when I placed the order and I gave $1000 as deposit as well. Till today, I don't see check being deposited by the dealer nor I have received the production number ... Could any one tell me how long does it take to receive the production number once you place an order? Thanks in advance...![]() |

My best understanding is no production number means your dealer doesn't have an allocation for a car yet (e.g. no production with your name on it yet). Doesn't mean you won't get a car, but it means right now the burden is on them to find you a slot.
I think you get a production number at status 111 (order accepted by BMW). I'd be a little concerned given slots are becoming pretty scarce with EOP in June. |

production number should be given to you no more than 5 days after you put down your deposit. I asked the dealer to put in writing they would hand me a production number right after I provided my deposit, suffice to say I got mine by end-of-day. Car arrived 6 weeks later.
no production number up to this point is concerning.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I would contact my dealer tomorrow and find out whats going on? If they don't have a slot, then it takes another week for me to place a new order or they had to find a slot from another dealer and get it done for me...

Without an allocation, there is no guarantee of a car. Normally this wouldn't be an issue -- you'd just get next year's model year and end up waiting a while for a slot to open. But with the production run ending for the E92, don't assume they'll do the right thing. |

Hey, I'm in the UK and ordered my Frozen Silver Edition on the 22nd of Feb - still have no idea when I'm actually going to get the car - BMW UK seem to have no idea - the car is ordered - just not been allocated a slot yet.

Mattis2K.....Finally my dealer provided production number. I entered that number in bmwusa.com profile but I saw my car as Jerez black M3 rather than a Mineral white M3..Called up customer care and he said they cannot track or tell any details of the car just by the production number as of now..He told me to contact my dealer for configurations and after 2 weeks or so, you will start seeing the car configuration...
