PFC Z-Rated vs. PFC 08 and HPDEs

I've ordered PFC Z-Rated pads for all around daily driving on my 2010 E90 M3 and PFC RH665 fluid.

I was also thinking about running them during the HPDE I am doing at VIR in early April, but knowing how hard I used to brake in my E46 M3, I am growing afraid fronts will fade on me pretty quick.

Do you think PFC08 fronts and PFC Z-Rated rear combo would work for HPDE? Seems like front bias should not be that much of an issue. Or do you think I really should get PFC08s all around? Hate to spring for rears for just 1..2 HPDEs.

The PFC Z-rated are good for the street, but heat up excessively on track leaving rotor deposits and major vibration issues. I have not tried the
PFC08, but I am currently using the PFC06 for the track. I would use the
PFC08 all around and then you don't have to worry about vibration issues and brake bias.

Pad Deposits from Z Rated

Personally, I would not use Z-Rated PFC's at the track. I know some have with success, but my experience was not positive. I had used them for moderate track duty on a C5 Corvette without issue, but the M was a different story.

These deposits were after 2 days at WGI. They stopped just fine, but with a very definative "GRRRRRR" on the track.

On the way home, the rotors were simply unbearable with the vibration. After 300+ miles, I was ready to hone them to see if they could be saved. On the advice of a friend I switched back to the stock pads do the clean up work - it took nearly 750 miles to remove the deposits and return the rotors to normal.

I've used the PF-Z pads on my e46 for a couple of track days. Also on my SHO way back when. They end up fading pretty bad. I love them for street use and have them on now. I have a set of PF-01s that will go on for track days.

Just to add to the thread...if you're the type that runs with M mode or DSC...having the rears not a full track pad is really a bad idea. The car naturally corrects yaw issues by clamping the inside rear wheel so you use the rear pads more than you use the pedal.

Glad you ordered all 4!
