Ask yourself this, if any car company developed a unique car, with the sunk costs it takes to do so, would they limit themselves to 100 models? I'd guess it has something to do with UK law allowing up to 100 cars from a garage outfit before they have to actually pass emissions and other standards.

Your lame, I am simply stating facts about what is considered a production car. Whether it was from Google or anywhere else, what the heck would that matter. At least I claimed I got it from the internet.

Agreed! Another great example is the Ken Block Ford Fiesta. It doesn't even have a Fiesta motor in it, and they made it AWD.

His point it is not coming off Mitsubishi's actual production line in that spec. Your argument it is sold by Mitsubishi so it is therefore a production engine.

I don't think the FQ400 is even available anymore. So Benz's statement that it is the most powerful 4-banger sold today, could technically be a true statement. But honestly who gives a flying f*ck.

Holset, highlighted red makes no sense. Are you saying that a company like Mitsubishi can't tweak an original engine to get more power? Isn't that what all companies do to make more production vehicles. Here is a little something I got from Wiki for both of you.

The Subaru Spec C is a production vehicle as well, just not for the states.

So what? Isn't the A45 tuned by the AMG GmbH in the same way the Lancer Evo is tuned by the WRC Developments? It's the same thing.

Kinda...kinda not. AMG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes. Are both tuned versions of their respective model, yes. One done all in house. The other done in partnership and was sold in very limited numbers. Same thing...kinda, but not exactly.

I'm glad they use DCT instead of MCT, but a hot hatch definitely at least needs the option of a manual. Doesn't make sense for the base a-series to offer a manual, but the AMG version not to. Just one of the things I never understood about AMG.

Even though this is AWD, it's still based on FWD so I wonder how much of the FWD characteristics will peak through.

And even though I do prefer the CLA45, the A45 should at least be offered in the U.S.

Good grief, if I really cared about every post, I'd probably have seven total posts. It's a car forum, not a nomination for the Nobel, lighten up.

The fact is, trying to argue that a car built in a total run over two generations of 200 models, tuned by a non affiliated aftermarket company is difficult to call a production car. It would be hard to find a more rare "production" car, including Donkevoort, Marussia and Spyker in that group.

I honestly can't wait to see the CLA45 AMG in person and drive it. This A class looks good! (as like a high class GTi, European 1M competitor).

But, in the US, that CLA looks nice. I've always liked that body style (especially from Mercedes - my dad has the CLS500 the first year it came out and it was beautiful then and the newer model looks even better).

I'm not sure how I would like going from a TT I6 to a turbo 4 cylinder though... and I'm not sure if it would even matter, but would having a smaller engine (albeit 360hp) make the car slower at high speeds?

Can't wait to drive it and compare to my 335is and the new 4series Msport /M4
