The new baby AMG-A45...2 liter 360 HP !!!

Whe talk a lot on this forum about AMG and the amazing power !
Now there is a new...BABY...AMG...only with a 2 liter turbo engine....(AWD)
BUT....360 HP !!! and 450 NM torque !!!
The numbers....0-100 km in 4.6 sec. !!!
I don't like the body desing, but the interior and seats are nice (my taste)
BTW....i noticed the same sound explosion in the exhaust note as the ///M5-M6,and i think it is the boost from the turbo (when up-down shift)
Why i post this...(and i now it is not a BMW) i think it's a kind of admiration for one of the best engine builders in the world....AMG !!!

Now this is a car I like! I think the CLA45 is hideous, but this little guy is VERY much up my ally! I love the interior as well. Good job AMG.

I have been reading this all over the the net but its incorrect.
FQ-400 is basically just a tuners car although a good tuners car and its only available in the UK supported by Mitsubishi UK.
It does not use a stock production engine from Mitsubishi its a tuned engine with bigger turbo, injectors, exhaust, intercooler etc!
In the older FQ-400 there was internal engine mods also such as other pistons, rods etc but in the Evo X i dont know.

About the AMG A45 i think is cool car lets see how it performs.

This car should be offered in a manual transmission.

I like it but not liking MB new design where they stretch the front intakes. Also, the side character lines are quite messy. Apart from that its nice.

Isn't that how more power is made out of cars? I am confused by your comment. It is still a production car through Mitsubishi, just re-tuned for more power. It's not an older FQ-400, its a newer, upgraded one.

BTW, all performance cars are "tuners" cars if you have the money.

Is the FQ-400 even available still? Didn't they only make 100 units for UK market.

Its not a Mitsubishi production engine the engine will not have the FQ-400 spec from the Mitsubishi production line so its not a production engine!

I know we are talking about the newest one the Evo X.
I meant that the older FQ-400 Evo 9 had other pistons and rods and that the newer FQ-400 Evo X may have it to but i dont know if thats the case but it is a possibility they have gone the same route.

Claiming the FQ-400 as a production car is like trying to claim a Novitec or a 9ff as a production car. There will be tens of thousands of A45s and CLA45s sold, there have been a total of 200 FQ-400s.

I am very confused on your opinions gentlemen. It clearly states in the add that it's a Mitsubishi production car for Brits. If Mitsubishi didn't tune it to the specs then who did? If Mitsubishi tuned it, then its a Mitsubishi car they "produced" and will sell to people. I am just reading what the article states.

Holset, highlighted red makes no sense. Are you saying that a company like Mitsubishi can't tweak an original engine to get more power? Isn't that what all companies do to make more production vehicles. Here is a little something I got from Wiki for both of you.

When used in motorsports, the term is quite exact and a certain number of a model must be produced in order to qualify for the term. The 1968 FIA rules stated that production cars were, for sports cars, at least 25 identical cars produced within a 12 month period and which were meant for normal sale to the individual purchasers.[6] FIA rules tend to allow a degree of modification from the original.

The Subaru Spec C is a production vehicle as well, just not for the states.

Ten seconds of the Googles points to someone who didn't build planes for the Axis seventy years ago being responsible for all of the FQ cars:

But the area where New Zealand-based WRC Developments (responsible, along with Ecutek, for the whole UK FQ line-up) has made the biggest difference is in the suspension. Track widths are up 20mm front and rear, and the whole body sits 30mm lower. Those are big shifts and they make a big difference.

Ask yourself this, if any car company developed a unique car, with the sunk costs it takes to do so, would they limit themselves to 100 models? I'd guess it has something to do with UK law allowing up to 100 cars from a garage outfit before they have to actually pass emissions and other standards.

I'm with you. I think the FQ400 is a production car. Does Mitsubishi sell it to you to use it on roads? Yes, then it's a production car to me. If it was a Cosworth WRX STi like car, then the discussion would be valid. The 4G63 in the FQ400 is modified for sure, but it's still a production engine.

One thing caught my is the 8.6:1 CR of this A45 AMG. That is pretty low for a DI engine. This will probably cause a mushy throttle response. Looks great though, can't deny that. Somehow they managed to turn the A-Class into a looker.
