At least this was still the case when I still had my car( 2010). But it does read and clear BMW unique codes and shadow codes(tuner codes) which is a great tool for tuned 335 who want factory warranty work.
Seems to be the professional would be a waste if you don't plan to use it on multiple cars.

For the record, I have never used the stop and start function at all. Here is some pictures. Hopefully anyone who had the same experience could chime in and tell me if it was actually the idle valve problem.

Same thing happened to me. Cracked ignition coils on cylinder 1 and 2.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. Ignition coil was replaced on cylinder #5.

Just hit 55k...thank goodness for CPO.

Anyone know the parts and labor offhand for this repair in case it happens again when I am out of warranty?

I have yet to get one of these on the e90, but my wife's 325i had these issues three times-all three times it was a bad sensor rather than a failed engine part. I hope that it is an easy and quick fix-and if you're out of warranty an inexpensive one.

Happened to me on the way home tonight. The yellow part of the rpm gauge went to 4500 and all. I can't wait to take it to the dealership and get screwed tomorrow. FML

Part cost £57, 'investigations' and labour took about an hour and were £150!!!

Just an FYI, swapping out an ignition coil is a really really easy DIY. You literally have to pop the coil out, disconnect it from its wiring harness and your done. If you need to reach the very back ones its a pain but the other 6 are extremely easy, so if you are out of warranty I would DIY

wtf, did they change manufacturing process or sources of these parts since 08-10 cars?
