Different speaker colors, cosmetic replacement possible??

So long story short, I had a leaking seal on my convertible top and there was water getting into my trunk. The water shorted the amp, effectively bridging the wattage and it fried some of my speakers.

After a MASSIVE ordeal getting them replaced with BMW, I just noticed the speaker cones are different colors. This is going to drive me nuts!

Do you think theres any recourse to get the rest of the speakers replaced because of this eyesore? Obviously the car is under warranty, but the "see through" speaker screens utilized in the M3 are arguably designed like that to show the speakers beneath.

Now my car looks all mismatched with yellow and white/silver speaker cones. WTF?

Are you positive they installed the correct speakers? It's just a guess as I'd imagine there wouldn't be cosmetic difference in identical types of speakers.

Here's 2 pictures, its difficult to see in the car but when the doors open in the sunlight (its now raining here in Atlanta) its much more visible

could the colors on the speaker cones have changed (yellowed) with time? some speaker cones are paper,and that can happen to them. if so, it might even out over time.

I believe the speakers with yellow cones are the Enhanced Audio Speakers. I have these in my car. The black coned speakers are for the standard audio package. If you have the Enhanced Audio package then you are good to go. If not, then you got an upgrade though I am not sure how they would perform with the standard audio system.

This is the extent of my knowledge: gray/charcoal cone = regular "Hifi" and yellow cone = enhanced. I do not know the systems by any other name and there are only two on the M3. Roll Tide! and good luck.

Your system is Enhanced Premium Audio, not Logic7. The yellow cones confirms it. Logic7 is only offered in the USA M3 by special order.

I bet that you told the dealer that you got a Logic7 system and they bought it -which it is absurd as those speakers will not show up as replacements in the system under your VIN.

You definitely have the wrong speakers on your car. They installed Logic 7 speakers in place of the EPS speakers. They should all be yellow for EPS speakers.

Logic 7 is not available for the M3 in the USA. The Enhanced Premium Sound is what you have.

Thank you all for your input. Everyone is getting hung up on me mistakenly calling the speakers HK L7's.

The car was dropped off with speaker issues. Nothing more, nothing less. I pointed out which ones needed to be fixed.

I didn't tell them anything more than I was having speaker issues.. they replace parts based on VIN information anyway.

I read so many HK/Logic7/EP threads today that I went Down in the garage, removed the car cover and started the E92 and listened to music!!!
I have the EP system and love it .

EPS = Individual audio = DIRAC. You have the EPS system, you need EPS speakers (which are yellow colored). EPS is the highest audio system you can get on the M3.

The order should be HiFi < HK L7 < EPS

So, everyone has the equalizer setting and whatnot on their iDrive screen?

They installed an indivual amp as well w/ the 2 speakers.

For the M3 there are only 2 audio systems.. HiFi and EPS/Individual. People without EPS will not have the equalizer.

The systems available are different for the regular 3 series so you can not apply that to the M3. M3 does not have L7 available. Get the white speakers (worng speaker) removed and have them install the right speaker (yellow).

My concern is that the VIN pulls individual part numbers. So the dealer is going to argue that they are correct.

The amp is "ind" as well, so I have 2 speakers and an amp that are the wrong part numbers according to what you saying.
