HPC Carbon Fiber Race-Spec Brake Duct Cooling Kit (Feeler)
Greetings M3Post members,
We here at Sonic MS are very excited to present HPC's Carbon Fiber Brake Duct Cooling system for the BMW E9X M3. ![]() This post is to serve as an introduction to the solution and to gauge interest levels of the community in order to bring the product to market. As such, pricing will NOT be discussed in this thread. ![]() ![]() ![]() Feature Benefit Summary: - Fabricated from High Temperature-resistant carbon composite materials utilizing modern Pre-Preg CF MFG techniques - BBK and OE BMW //M hardware compatible - Adaptable to 2.5 or 3" hosing - Simple mounting points - Undertray, wheel well and backing plate ducting configuration provides maximum airflow - Track Tested & Race Proven ![]() ![]() The concept of brake cooling ducting is not new and has been used on racecars for quite some time now. The benefits include more consistent brake performance resulting from lower rotor, pad, caliper and brake fluid temperatures. The end results are longer lasting brake hardware, reduced brake fade and more confident and consistent pedal feel. ![]() ![]() We would like to take this opportunity and see how many people would be interested in a kit like this and also answer any questions or concerns in this thread. Production numbers of these kits will be EXTREMELY limited, so please - only serious inquiries. Thanks in advance for your help! ![]() |

I would be interested in the middle piece between the two hoses. I have all the rest. A slimmer middle section would be nice though.

I own this kit and run Hoosier A6 slicks on 10" rims. There is rubbing at full lock, how much depends on your set up, etc. HPC doesnt advertise no rubbing. Contact Sonic MS and get tire clearance data straight from them This is a race set up folks. |

Thx, actually want to keep my stock zcp wheels/tire sizes. Figured that brake cooling ducts, street/track pads, and fluid/lines would be good enough for occasional track use and much cheaper than a BBK.

There are clients who have this kit installed (Kris Von Sydow at VS MS) who use steering locks to limit steering radius. HPC potentially can fabricate a Kevlar duct with other special materials, it will flex and distort and will not be harmed by the rubber tire or rim. HPC is actively looking into guaranteeing the kevlar wheel duct for those that have issues and providing free replacements. However, this will undoubtedly add on to the cost. People running 19's and lowered more than 1.8" with camber will also rub massively at full lock. Last edited by Cal@Sonic MS; 02-11-2013 at 07:02 PM. |

Wheel ducts clear the stock rim and tire at full lock no problem. I'll get a measurment on my race set up, get hpc to post pics on their facebook page. My guess is about 3/8 less steering |

this looks really dope! i wonder how the clearing would be on 18" volks, 9.5 +22 with a 265 rs3 upfront.

Absolutely interested on clearing on the volks (TE 37sl)as well. 18" x 9.5 (265/35 F) and 18" x 10.5 (285/35 R) on kw comps, lowered -2.5 to -3 camber. Had my mind set on the cantrells, but if price is reasonable, would love this setup. Also any issues with the narrow, sharp tight turn before the hose-backing plate(where the CF mid-piece connects to the hose) area reducing air-flow going to the hose attached to the backing plate?

Looks cool, but also looks pretty pinched, like 1MOREMOD mentioned.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."
